How careful are you about where you put your email address? I have one which I use for work, and so it is only for work, and then another which is a gmail.com account, which I use for this paid to click sites. I am very careful about where I put my address, as I know how easy it is to get spammed. If it is a funny joke or something I don't mind, but mostly I prefer to receive emails from people I know only. What about you?

I have an email address that I've been using for a very long time, and I don't think it would be hard for anyone to find or figure out considering the number of places I've used it over the years. It's kind of become spammed-out a bit, but since once in a while people email me at that address that I haven't talked to in years out of the blue, I am reluctant to actually stop using it. I'm not too careful with that one, since like I said probably half the net already knows it anyway. I have started a couple of other email addresses at different points over the years in hopes of using them for specific reasons, but I never really get around to doing so. My most recent attempt failed mostly because of configuration issues, and I think for right now I'll just stick with my old one and keep wading through the junk. =p

That sounds like a lot to keep up with for me. However, I am seriously thinking I need to start one for more serious uses, that has my real name attached to it. Perhaps through my ISP.

Perhaps they are just testing you to see if it is a real account. With my bigpond account, I get a heap with my name @bigpond.net.au, bigpond.com, bigpond.com.au, and then variations of my name as well. Sometimes they will have different spelling in the 'CC' section, in the hope of getting a response. I usually just delete them. What was in yours?

I keep all the information about my email in a book. So whenever I forgot something I would just refer to the book and I will get all the information I want. About sending the email address to people we don't know, I use separate emails address for that purpose, for example if I want to subscribe something free from the internet. I have a special email just for that purpose. I have my personal email too, which i give only to my close friends.

I used to only have one e-mail address, but I was getting so much junk there I decided to open up another account from a different server. I use the second account for all the sites I use to make some extra money. Of course, I receive most of my junk e-mail at that account too, but I don't care because only my close friends and family use my primary e-mail address. Also, I never give out my home phone number to anyone except people I already know, otherwise everyone starts calling to sell you something or try to scam you out of your money.

I am very careful too, or how could i say it.. I use two emails. One for signinup to websites and do things in internet and other to personal use which only my friends and relatives know so i don't get any junk mail and i can read all messages in peace. I would suggest that to others too, its really good way to get rid of junk mail.

I mainly use one email address but found after awhile that I was getting alot of spam and bulk email though. The spam and bulk filter keeps most of it out of my inbox so I cope with it ok

I am extremely careful with my primary email address. With my first email when I went on the Net in 1997... I made the mistake to give it to anyone who asked for it. By 2000... I was getting 250 spam emails a day. Today I get no spam at all... because I only give my email to the people I trust. For everything else... I use my Yahoo email. Yahoo is good because it catches 95% of the spam and place it in my bulk folder. I never look at it. I just empty it once a week. If you have a website or a blog... the biggest mistake you can make is to leave your email on it. Even if you use a contact form... the spammers will find the email inside the codes which send the message to you. The spammers use robots like the search engines to harvest every email left on the Internet. Please note that it is different when you use your email to register with a forum like myLot. In this case... your email is stored in a database. It is not on the internet for the spammers to find it. Not unless you have chosen in your profile to display your email on myLot.

I used to have atleast 5 email addresses. I built them for my personal use, work, and financial needs. The more you have the better. But make sure you can manage all of them. using different email providers is good thing also i used 3 provider for this service.

I often had to deal with spammers so I found the best solution was to have multiple e-mail addresses. I would have one to do business with friends and family, and another to contact unknown people, companies and to sign up for online offers. This strategy has proven very sucessful and I have not had many problems since.
