Stem Cell Research Good or Bad?

in may me and my best friend were required to do a research project for our English 2 class, we were sophmores and we decided to do stem cell research...well we started to read about how it can take the form of the near by cells, repair nerve damage, lung damage and all that...and my best friend said it was a great thing to have stem cell research...he went into his side saying that if the women didn't want the baby then they could use them for the stem cells to help improve other peoples life and that it would help more than hurt
i of course felt the exact opposite saying that it was 100% wrong to kill human fetus's for this use...and that the person that was blind, deaf, or immoble's life is already set like that...but that fetus...they haven't even had a shot at life yet, and how i thought it was wrong and its murder...and then we of course leaked into the abortion subject (mind you were doing this in a school library and our teacher is about to give us detention) he believes its alright to use the fetus if the wife doesn't want the child...so i replied "how do i know that the fetus there killing to put in som1 who had a shot at life already, how do i know thats not the future president of the united states?, how do i know hes not the next albert einstien...and at this point we have the whole class listening to me and him go on and on over and over on both sides why its right or wrong...but i wanna know other peoples thoughts on this subject...so what are your beleifs on the subject?

I tend to agree with it although I must be honest I have a few thoughts that it must have the rules set in concrete, I also think by some law saying they can't won't stop some people from still doing it and that could lead to maybe the rich being the only ones that benefit as they have the money for everything they want so if it is out there maybe the whole world can benefit however I still have some feelings that I am not sure about...

so what if the baby you were gonna have were to be the next super genious? i think the only execption to this should be if you were raped (in which there would be alot more rape cases)...the world could benifit on the side of improving the rich lives...but also killing the futur genorations amount of people and murdering humans
