Do you work from home to earn extra income or do you work away from home?

Do you work from home and if you are a parent to a young child are you able to work with your children home with you or do you have to get a babysitter. I believe that in most work at home jobs you can't have any background noises? Are there any work at home jobs that a person can do with kids at home? What kind of work do you do?

Hi magnet! I work from home. Originally, I did freelance work for my webmaster neighbor - uploading products to his clients' online stores. It's the "grunt" work, while he did the website design and programming. I then started my own online store - it's slow going on getting sales, but that's typically of a new business - online or offline. I have great faith on my store. I also acquired one of my neighbor's clients and am her sole webmaster now. She is my "bread and butter". I also build websites for friends. It doesn't pay much, but I feel good helping out others who don't have these skills. They are starting their own online businesses, so as their income increases, so will mine. I do not have kids, but doing webdesign and data entry, like I do is good for those with kids. I dont' have to worry about rambuctous play and the like. I can get up from the computer as I need to. I do have to chase the cat around from time to time as she gets her "crazies" on. And I do walk the time several times a day. I would not be able to do this if I lived on my own though. I don't make enough to pay the monthly bills. Hubby holds the full-time job. My goal is to make enough via my webdesign and store each month, steadily, so that my husband can get out of the furniture factory work. He's been doing it for nearly 20 years and his body has been paying the price. His dream is to write, especially for newspapers. I want to give him the freedom to be able to do that. He's worked hard his whole life - he deserves to live out his dreams while he's still able to.

My kids are grown so I don't have to worry too much about the background noises, but if I had this same opportunity when they were younger, it wouldn't be that much of a problem. We have helped moms stay at home with their kids while providing an income stream into the house. It's something that works well with all ages and family types. I enjoy it and have met a lot of great people too!!!
