Well I havn't been that active with Associated Content. But I imagine that the ones that pay the most are the ones where AC specifically asks for certian kinds of content. AC will send out emails to your AC account asking for articles on specific topics. So I believe those are the ones that pay more. Best of luck!

I've found that articles concerning eBay usually pay a little over average. For me the eBay aticles also get lots more hits.

I haven't figured it out yet, either. A topic I think will go over well pays very little and one I wrote almost on the fly and figured if I got over $3, I'd be happy, paid almost three times that. I wish someone would figure it out and tell us! :)

I am sure that the ones from the Emails they send out on Certain topics are some of the ones they pay the most for, or on Subjects that might really catch their eye that are New and original. But I would Love to know the answer to this one as well, so I know what to Submit sometimes there as well.

I know from experience that AC pays the most for articles and videos about AC, How to (Insert a Topic) on AC; Content like that.

My article that has the most page views is one on making homemade body wash. The one for which I was paid the most is my most recent on how urban sprawl ruins roads. I submitted one a couple of days ago on making homemade hair products and we'll see what they offer for that!

Frankly, I think that the ones that pay the most are articles that reflect something unique you have done (eg, being an exotic dancer) or those that have to do with celebrities (of course, you have to be the first one with the story). The more timely the topic, the better the payout. For example, I got lucky writing a story about fundraising for the Democrats just before the latest figures came out. It was just a fluke that worked out in my favor. I think if you concentrate on entertainment news, you probably have a better shot than if you write about something more "everyday." Good luck with your writing.
