What are some of the things you did as a child that you miss?

I remember those days when my dad (he already passed away) would take us every weekend to a river, or to a park or to the beach or anywhere but we would go out and have fun as a family. Also I miss playing with my brothers and sister climbing trees or fences, chasing dogs and chickens, scaring my little sister that we would fall down the toilet (it was outside over a manmade hole). Now I realize we were mean to her, she really was worried about each of us and my mother would be mad at us.

Isn't it something to reminisce a little.. You must have lived on a farm since you talk about fences, chickens and dos.
Did you have an outside toilet? You speak of worrying about falling down it.+

It was a very small town with dirt roads and farms around. I miss that town! Yes it was an outside toilet. We didn't have sewer or anything like that, we even had to buy water for the house! We were poor but very happy!

I miss going camping on the weekends with my family. I miss on weekends when my mother would fry up some chicken and when my dad got home from work on saturday we would go to the drive-in movies and eat our chicken, watch the movie and go to the concession during intermission and getting "junk food". No more drive-in movies around here anymore. I also miss roller skating on the sidewalk, playing hop-scotch, hula hooping, playing jacks and pick up sticks. Playing outside in the summer rain showers. That is just to name a few. But the family things I really miss the most since both my parents have passed on.

Sounds like your mom must ahve made some good fried chicken? You mention it twice in the post.
I remember playing jacks as well but never have played "picking up sticks".
I use to do the hoola hoop but couldn't keep it going too long;)+

I don't see where I mentioned twice about my mom frying up chicken, just mentioned chicken twice and that was for the same event. :) But yes, she did fry some very good chicken, she was a super good cook and loved to cook and bake. I wish I would have gotten that from her, I hate to cook and bake.
Oh you need to get some pick up sticks sometimes and try it, it is very fun.
In elementary school during a carnival we had I won the hula hoop contest, kept it going the longest. Not to brag but I was good at it, could get it around my neck and down to my ankles and back up then hold my arms up and work it up to my wrist above my head. The hula hoops they make now are not as good as back then, they are too light weight now.

I miss doing the Easter egg hunts when I was a child as well as riding the ponies at a nearby farm. Those were really neat things that I did when I was a child as well as riding a tricycle. LOL I do not remember everything that I did as a child but those come to mind. I remember my parents also had a pet bird at one time but it flew out the window and never returned.

Did you live on a farm yourself Ken? When you had the Easter Egg hunt did you find alot of Easter Eggs? Did you get a big Easter basket at easter and also eat lots of chocolate?:)+
