like you i was a very heavy smoker 50 - 60 a day, i did that for over forty years, guess i am lucky or unlucky to do that, anyhow i have now chosen not to smoke for the past 6 months notice i said chosen not to smoke rather than give up because you will always be a ex smoker, anyhow just before new year i found myself in hospital and on a breathing maching this lasted for 3 days i was hospitalized for 10 days, they tell me i was lucky to survive and it was simply from being out of breathe, smoking done that to me, i spent the time in hospital thinking.... Now to put it bluntly i was SCARED into quitting and did it "cold turkey" after 40 years simply thinking that i never want to go through all that again.... so for you please just say no to smoking and spare your self what i went through ... if you have trouble give me a yell i do all i can to help

Well thanks a lot Booffy. It must take a lot of courage to give up on smoking like that. I want to stop too but I don't think I will succeed with shear will. I think I'll try some patches. don't know if they work never tried before.

i must admit the patches worked for me, but only when i had to go overseas on a plane ... i hope they work longer for you......i just don't want anyone going through what i did ... give it a shot mate .... nothing ventured nothing gained they say. carry chewing gum or water to use until the craving goes away. you're a young bloke, don't end up like me.... give it up now and enjoy ALL the young ladies and not just some of them
