Last Sunday, someone dear to me celebrated her birthday. She was not aware of the surprise birthday party which was held for her. Anyway, being non family members, while they were taking photos, I felt envy and sad. No ..not because I was not invited to take photo with her..its just that I envied her for the joy and happiness. Her family took the trouble to organise the party. Sad cause my family never did once organise any birthday party for me. :(. Do your family celebrate your birthday with you.

You are not alone. Since young, my parents do not believe in celebrating birtdays and they highly do not encourage it. However, my older siblings will be the one buying gifts to surprise me. Though there's no cake involved, I feel quite contented... Now, that I have my own family, I'll ensure thta my family members would have some surprise celebrations. Not big though, only us family members. We would head for our favorite Makan place for dinner.... It's a quiet celebration... Of course, when I was little, I envy my friends for their big birthday bashes and I would feel kind of sad......

Oh! macam sama aja..heeheee..pisceskan?. I knew that jong ann. I love their chicken rice and hati goreng kicap. How about Kg Melayu Seafood now at changi Road. Previously they were at Tampines Singtel Bldg. Ah Beng is the owner... I always got discount when eating there. Infact some naughty fren will mention myname to Ahbeng saying that they are my good fren and I recommended them the restuarant, they too got the discount. Terukkan, pakai nama org anyhow. Hhhm, infact there are a lot other interesting and nice food place that I patronised. I used to go jalan jalan cari makan when in my younger day..now engine dah slowlah.. masak kat rumah lagi best dan menjimatkan...so if teringin nak makan black pepper crab, bilang bilanglah, thats my speciality. BTw if nak list all those nice place for makan here, berjela jela beb. I message you later.

Hello noyida..... I have a few favourite Makan Place. The high end ones are Straits Kitchen and Bali Thai. Bali Thai's Tom Yum soup so shiok....... There's also Pattaya Restaurant...... Then, for the hawker or food court, I love the chicken rice shop near Pattaya Restaurant. I think the name is Jong Ann or something. It was previously from Geylang Serai old flat, coffee shop. Even the sweet and sour fish taste yummilicious. It's cheap and takde tandingannya. You have any nice recommendations? We all hantu makan!!! Hehehe......

My family celebrates my birthday every year. But it is not a big one. Don't feel sad, noyida. It could be that your family is not used to that. Next time, you can just begin with mentioning your parents birthday before mentioning yours to make it a rule for celebrating birthday of each family member. Cheer up.

I am sorry to hear that, friend. Such being the case, you will have to celebrate your next birthday with your loved and friends to get rid of the loneliness on your birthday. Good luck to you.

awwww.... if i knew your family i'd drop them a mail now. I'm sure they'd be happy and excited to plan a surprise birthday party for you. just that it probably hasn't crossed their mind. sometimes you have to drop hints! my favourite surprise party was when i was studying and knew differnt groups of people, but one group planned this huge party and invited all the different groups that i knew, including this guy i had a HUGE crush on! i was SoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy. :)

When I was a child, my family was helding a small party for me. On the party, my parents would wish me to have a good luck in a new year. I think the birthday party is necessary for the child. I want to thank my family because they celebrate my birthday every year.

Whose heart is not gladdened if family members dedicate a day for anyone. My family members observe the birthday not in a formal way, but by inviting a few friends and relatives, have a dinner, arrival of fresh flowers and reinforcing family ties. The age of sending greeting cards are over.

That is fine. There are millions who do not even remember their birthday due to paucity of time or they are simply not interested in any celebration or observation.

I know how that is. My family loves me, but nobody celebrates my birthday neither. Its been along time since anybody did anything special for my birthday. There have even been times that some of my family members have forgotten my birthday totally.

Every year my mother makes me an angel food cake. That's the only thing I ever really ask for. I try and eitehr call/text/or email my friends on their birthdays. When i celibrated my 30th I asked if they would go out with me and celibrate, some came in full force ready to party, and a few had to be hunted down.

Yes, my family celebrate my birthday with me, and it makes my day that much more special. My children are grown up now, but still call me to say Happy Birthday (my boys never send me cards). However, my daughter who lives in the USA (I live in Austtralia), always calls me, sends me a card in the mail and also an e-card on the computer. Sometimes we will all go out for a meal together (except my daughter of course), or if that is not possible, my husband always takes me out to a special restaurant. I got married on my birthday, so it's a double celebration!

Wow, its a double celebration for you. You are very lucky Abbey. Even your daughter is far, she remembers to call you, send you card and as it is not enough, even send you an ecard. So have you celebrate your birthday this year yet? If not, then I must bring a present for you when I come and see you in August then. Thanks for sharing.

Since when i was just a child, i never experienced of what we called birthday because of i belong to poverty family. Even if i like to have a party but i cannot do that due to lack of financial. Right now im 21 yrs old but still i havent experienced a birthday..but im not blaming my parents to me.. coz for me i treated their love as a birthday gift to me. Even if i dont have a birthday i still be proud coz i belong to where family loves one another. But if given a chance to have a birthday, i will spend my birthday to the fellow children who never had a birthday coz i know how it feels. Thanx for the post, it reminds me of my incoming birthday again... wish someone would remember me at that time. :) Godbless you my friend!

Wish her belated happy birthday from me. Don't feel sorry because your family is not celebrating your birthday. I also do not celebrate my birthday. We used to celebrate when I was child. But, now we don't get time to do all those things. Many times, I even forget my birthday. But, my mom never forget. I stay away from my family, so, my mom just give me a call and reminds me that I was born on this day. So, today is you birthday. blessing of our parents is always with us.

Quite frankly, I don't celebrate my birthday. I almost feel as if celebrating one's birthday is a reflexion of the self centered society we live in today. Perhaps I am a cynic but I don't see a point to celebrating ones birth... instead I like to honor the good things that people are doing or the world. Have you seen my super sweet 16? It's sickning the way those people think the world revolves around them...

To each its own. You can have your own view, but remembering the birth day of someone in your life is a good deed and to celebrate the joy of living for that long of life for the birtday person is to share the happiness. Anyway thanks.

Don't feel bad because your family didn't organise one for you. These parties don't matter. The thing that matters is love, affection and respect towards each other.A simple wish from a true heart is more valuable than a million dollar party.Hey hold on this was just an example.Don't neglect a party. But do respect the ones who wish you without forgetting your birthday. My family celebrated my birthday till I was 10.Then they thought I am too old for a birthday celebraton. But these parties really don't matter to me.What I want is people should remember my birthday without fail and never expect a treat from me.hehe.Just kidding.

Ya, of course family love, affection and respect towards everyone is very important and of unmentioned value. Not celebrating my birthday in one thing, they even dont wish me on the day itself. Anyway, thanks.

Yes they always do, every year they always think about my Birthday Celebration and the great thing is they make it as a 'Big Surprise Celebration' without my knowing, and it's really a wonderful feeling knowing that you have your loving family who's always there to support you all the way through. :-)

Yes they do. There are many of my birthdays, which I forget myself, but my family remembers always and give me a surprise on my birthday. Its good to have a family that really cares about you, that remembers everything about you, that can do anything for you. And for such a family, you can do anything for them too. Not only for my birthday, but also for my other functions, such as my Marriage Anniversary etc. also, my family keep track of them, never forget them, and celebrate the function more than I celebrate it. I thank God, for such a family I have.
