When You Have To Clean your Home---Just How Do You Clean?

I don't think there's anyone who likes the everyday simple or hard cleaning chores...but just how do you do it? Do you doing it feeling the drudgery of it all or do you do something to at least up-lift and motivate you? With me I often clean to music --and usually cranked up a bit in volume--I'm normally a very quiet person..but I just love having music blaring loud while I'm cleaning...and will often sing out loud to boot--of course probably annoying my neighbors no end--LOL--but I just find having music in the background really helps my cleaning chores especially the hard ones to do, and makes time and the cleaning chore go faster. So how about you--what tricks of persuasion do you do to get your cleaning chores done??

I pick up the house every night—this I just do- no music- My daughter is usually in bed by then- But on the weekend mornings- We crank the music – sing- and dance around and clean! My daughter is a huge help when she is home—we make it fun together- Picture us sweeping with a broom and dancing around the floor also! : ) Music makes everything fun!

My kids and I use to use the brooms and mop to dance to in the kitchen. My husband would not know what he would come home to. If the house was a dance hall, a lbrary, band hall for band practice, video game palace. LOL we kept him on his toes. I loved our dance halls in the kitchen the best. I also love the quite times reading.

That's me exactly. I can't hardly get anything done, unless I have my music blaring. It puts me in a better mood.

I need clear mind when I am cleaning. I play sounds of nature when cleaning. I just run Roomba in every room and while Roomba is vacuuming, I do dishes, laundry and bathrooms. I have fun during my cleaning, because my cat is playing with roomba...maybe she thinks that huge mouse is moving around the room....

Yes, I have DVD with ocean, rain and forest...Roomba is great, but if I want to clean faster, regular vacuum is better....

LOL! I do that too. I clean to music - and sometimes (embarrassing moment to share here!) - I actually dance while I'm cleanng!! I tend not to sing, on the grounds that my singing voice is so awful I would scare the cats and frighten the neigbours - but I LOATHE housework, so I have to do anythng to get through it!!

LOL--I just picture you doing pirouettes while cleaning...I sometimes wonder what my neighbors and cats think when I sing while cleaning...I do happen to be a LOUD singer--When Return of the King had come out, I would listen to that soundtrack and sing Into The West---I swear I was this close to be arrested for disturbing the peace, since I sang it so much--hehehe

LOL! It's a long time since I did a pirouette! I studied ballet as a youngster, but at 5ft 8ins I just grew too tall:-(( And strangely enough - the cats love my singing and dancing........... Sasha looks at me and I swear he laughs! He used to dance with me when he was a young thing - now he just looks on!!

Well, supposedly great minds think alike, so we both must have really great minds, cuz I like to crank up the music while I'm cleaning too. Something with a lively beat just seems to make it so much easier to get everything done a lot more quickly. Not to mention the fact that it aggravates my neighbors too. Hehehehe

When I have to clean I have a list of chores that need to be done, with my dizzyspells I have to stop often so I will have the music going also. I either have my chrocheting or the computer for my rest periods. Now for the fourth of july my rest periods were spend in the pool because I was so hot. I would jump in the pool and get out and relax for a few to drip off some and come in to the house wet and keep cleaning. I find now that it is just my husband and I home the house stays a lot cleaner then before. The only dishes is what we make, the only mess is ours. I only do laundy once a week. I can do it all in one morning also. lOL

Ooooo--can I come over and hop in your pool...we're to get a heat wave starting tomorrow...I can allow myself the luxury of not cleaning as often as I used to too...isn't that a great feeling??

Music does it for me as well. One of my most dreaded chores is the vacuuming and I can't turn the music up loudly enough so I can hear it over the noise of the vacuum cleaner. So annoying..lol.

Usually I just do one chore at a time, when I feel like it (or can't ignore it any longer). So, I don't spend a lot of time cleaning in one go; just little chores throughout the week. The longest chore is vacuuming, which I would like to do to music, but usually don't, just because it is a hassle as it is, let alone getting out the headphones, etc. BUt, so long as I don't turn on the TV, I am usually pretty productive.

I'll usually have music or a favorite tv show on, the voloume usully upped a bit..because the walls are a it too thick for me to hear it on average voloume from room to room. I prefer everyone to be ou of the house hen I clean too..because it's more fun when I have the house to myself. When they're all here, I usually feel stifled..and eventually end up annoyed at them. When they're here..I expect help, but frustratingly don't get it lol

Music is a do all thing. I have to have music with just about everything I do....keeps the feet moving...lol. Sometimes even keeps the hands going.....but usually they are busy with the actual cleaning chores. Mosy of my neighbors are out when I do cleaning, since I do it early in the day before it gets to hot and stuff.

Hi, Loved your response on my site..thank you for your complet candor. Check my response if you care to. Signing off shortly..but wanted to add to this topic. I love to clean..because it feels so expansive afterwards. I am aware of when the energy feels stagnant and view cleaning right up there with other space clearning techniques. The persuasion is to clean, then afterwards light candles and insence, make a cup of green tea, put my feet up at which time the 5 cats come for a snuggle. Ahhh, it is so worth doing! Both my hubby and I clean with the speakers blaring too...and we sing at the top of our lungs...but we are in a large house so the neighbours don't hear as much. Fun subject...so long for now.

Since I am a teacher, my house SHOULD be spotless during the summers. Alas, it is not haha. I wish I would clean everyday, wash clothes everyday, and promptly fold the clothes that I wash. Again, alas, I do not. I am usually inspired to clean right after I buy the month's groceries for some reason. Then, and when we have company so I am only cleaning because I don't want people to view my house as a pig sty. When it gets unbearable (it's never grungy, just CLUTTERED) then I have to straighten up because I'm going berzerk!

I don't like clutter either and am always getting rid of stuff...especially tons of old paperwork that I don't need...with the amount of stuff I throw out you'd think an army lived here instead of just me and my two cats

If I know someone is coming to visit who normally doesn't, I rush around and pick things up, wash the dishes, clean the washroom, etc. Otherwise, I just let things slide... I always have music on, though.

Well one blessing is that I don't have so many cats now...used to have a tad too many thanks to my mom...I used to have to literally clean the entire apartment from top to bottom everyday...now I bask in the luxury of not having to do that anymore...although...even though I only have two cats now...the worse is get all that hair off my sofa...excuse me...THEIR sofa--LOL

I usually have the tv going when I'm cleaning. It seems like if I'm watching or interested in a show, I can kind of do the cleaning without really thinking about it. I try to clean daily so I don't have to do a really big cleaning except in the spring for my spring cleaning.

I'm the opposite...I just don't like the TV on while I'm cleaning...I guess the idea that when the TV is on one should watch it...so I find the TV distracting...so on to the loud music...LOL

My mother was a pack rat and a messy one at that. So I am a minimalist now. Less is more. I don't have much stuff for clutter or anything. But how I clean homuse is I start from my room and work my way to the kitchen, hitting every other room on the way. This way I feel quick success every time I finish a room. Mine down check, boys room check! And I leave the kitchen till last because it is the worst and there is no way I can leave it so I will definitely do it. I hate cleaning because it has little reward so that is what works for me. I play music and sing with it. I say my broom is my favorite dance partner.
