Field trips in school were always so nice, because you got out of being in class for a day and you got to hang out with your friends.
The best field trip I went on was an overnight field trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. It was around 5 hours give or take from where we were and it was actually fun to have an overnight trip. I can't remember the grade I was in but it was probably 3rd or 4th. It's a living history museum all about time in the 18th century in America. It was fun because obviously it was all about American history and you really were learning, but at the same time you get to have alot of fun.
In High School I went on only one and it was the stupidest field trip ever. Senior year as a Culinary Arts major, we each had to pay $20 to take a school bus (and by SR year parents didn't pay for your field trips, you made your own money!) to go 20 minutes down the road to the Baltimore city where we then had to pay for our own meal at the Cheesecake Factory restaurant. Even though most of us could have driven ourselves, we weren't allowed. Nor did we even enjoy ourselves and to this day I still don't know what that $20 we paid for the bus went to because when you ride a county school bus, it's FREE. It didn't go to our meal, since we had to pay for that ourselves too! It was definitely the most horrible field trip I went on.
What about you? What was your most enjoyable or hateable field trip? Or do you have kids that went on a really fun or really bad school trip?

The best field trip I ever went on was probably to Disney World in 6th grade. The people weren't great that I roomed with, but I had never been before so that made it cool. It was a pretty awesome field trip...expensive though. I about didn't even get to go because of the price. The worst was probably a trip from college. No lie...a college field trip. It was with one of my Early Childhood Education classes. All it was- a trip, that the teacher was supposed to pay for, to a Mexican restaurant. We didn't realize we had to pay anything until we got there and she changed her mind about paying, and most of us had to split plates. It was also sleeting, but if we didn't go, it counted as a big test grade or something stupid like that. Awful. She would only let you leave if you at least ordered a drink. She was a weird teacher anyway. I also went on another college food/field trip with a psychology class. One of the girls was in my cosmetology class and she looked just like Roz from 'Monster's Inc.'. Hilarious. We were at a steak house eating in one of those big back rooms. Roz drops her pants out of nowhere and starts booty dancing like nobodies business. I still have nightmares.

Disney World that's awesome. I don't know if I'd like to go with school though. Like my 6th grade class went to Canada, Niagara Falls. I couldn't go because my parents didn't have the money because I was going to Georgia with my girl scout troop that summer and I couldn't do both.
What's up with Field trips to restaurants?! That's so lame. I hated the one in high school because the Cheesecake factory really isn't all that spectacular and $40+ bucks for a school bus trip to a not so great restaurant where we had to pay $20 bucks for our meal...was just crap! And what's up with deciding not to pay!? I'd have just gotten the cheapest item on the menu for sure and water!
