Okay, well I just found I'm pregnant and I haven't been vegetarian too long. I wasn't a vege with my last pregnancy. I'm not really interested in eating meat again but I also don't want to deny my child the nutrients he/she needs. What can I do to still get the protein/nutrients my child needs?

Definitely talk to your OB/Gyn about this subject. He or she will have more details. With that being said, there are thousands of proud vegan mamas roaming the planet and their babies are just fine. You can get all of your proteins and amino acids from veggie sources, so why worry about it. If you take a good prenatal vitamin your baby will receive the vitamins they need for healthy development and that is all that is important. Best of luck with your baby to be. Enjoy this time, it will go very quickly.

Well, I found out I had a false postive pregnancy test...didn't think that happened too often. But thank you for your response and I'll be sure to research this topic for when the time comes!

I made sure I took folic acid and vitamin tablets when I was pregnant. I stayed vegan and both my children were big (7lb10 and 8lb6) and healthy. I tried to eat more organic food than usual and cut all the additives out of my diet. I made sure I ate lots of tofu, green vegetables, seeds, nuts and beans. That was later though, at the start of the pregnancy I felt sick a lot but did find that eating fruit made me feel better so had a lot of that.

I'm glad to hear that you had two successful vegan pregnancies! I found out I had a false positive, but this is good news for me when the time does come. Thanks!
