No, in fact it was absolute favorite part about being pregnant. It was long, but a great experience.

I know what you mean about labor being your favorite part of pregnancy: holding my baby in my arms!

Thank you! Did you feel your pain affected your first minutes or hour with your baby?

well I dont know about everyone else but I certainly was.. I thought I was going to die... I have never ever in my life been through so much pain but the strangest part was I forgot about it as soon as I saw my beautiful son. I think it was the long labour that made it more painful. With my second son I gave birth to him within 10 minutes of arriving at the hospital Id only had my first contraction an hour before hand. It still was soooo painful but I think it was easier because it was over before I could think about it.. There was no lying around in pain at the hospital waiting for baby to come he was there straight away.. I think the time it took with my first son is what was overwhelming hours and hours and hours and yes more hours of pain is very overwhelming. Its so funny but all that pain is so worth it and I cant wait to go through it again...

Thank you for sharing! Yes, each birthing experience is different! How old are your children?

Although my labour started at 7pm on the Sunday and I didn't give birth to my son til nearly 10pm the next night, the only pain that I felt was almost unbearable and so strong was between 3.30pm when they broke my waters and 5.30pm when I got in the birthing pool. The pain at all other times, although very strong, didn't make me feel like I was out of control

I got in the water at 5.30pm and he was born at 9.38pm. His head was born underwater where it stayed for a couple of minutes then I got a rude awkening and dragged to my feet so the midwife could get the rest of him out!

That must've been very shocking! I slept between contractions while giving birth on dry land.

How long after you got in the birthing pool was your son born? Did you birth him in water?

No, it didn't really feel like pain until the crowning stage. I felt in control and relaxed during the contractions. I only ever got bothered, if someone came too close to me.

Did you have planned c-sections in advance without any labor contractions first?

Yes, contractions are horrible! I wanted the epi but i went way too fast for that. I got a pain med called Stadol which did nothing but make me sleepy and loopy. lol

Stadol is not an anesthesia nor is it an analgesic. But Stadol is like a hallucinogenic, sorry you went through that. Stadol doesn't stop pain, but it is an amnesiac that makes you "forget" the pain.

My labor and delivery were almost painless. All I could really feel was a LOT of pressure, and what felt like menstrual cramps. I didn't get any meds, did it all natural.

I was having contractions and they hurt the "you know what" ! :) But after about 5 hours of that, I asked for an epidural! After that, I did NOT feel a thing. It actually made me sleepy. I didn't feel a thing while giving birth either.

I have never experienced an epidural. I gave birth 3 times at home without any pain meds. I felt every second of every phase of birth. I am glad I did.

I had an epidural injection when I gave birth to both of my children and I am so glad I did because I didn't want any unncessary pain if pain relief was available.

What was it like to push? Did the epidural take away your urge to push?

What were the major differences in your labors?

Yes, with my first it wasn't too bad, it was more discomfort than pain except when I ripped and that stung like mad! I think having the stitches hurt more than actually giving birth! With my second, there were a few times when I was ready to give up but even so I still think the discomfort and the length of labour is worse than the actual pain.

Well...my labour was pretty short..around two hours. I walked to the hospital and was told I was going to have a baby. It was uncomfortable at first but bearable. But towards the end, it was pretty bad and I thought I couldn't take it anymore when the baby was out. It was actually just a few minutes of really overwhelming pain but it felt like ages then and I thought I was going to die. If it had lasted a little longer, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to handle it. But luckily for me, my bundle of joy was out right then. My son's now 6 and I'm expecting my second anytime now. I hope it's going to be easy.

actaully giving birth was my favorite part and there is no need for medication as long as you stay calm.
