I am from China. I think English is the most important subject. As you have to learn it from primary school until in the universaty. I can't see any subjects to be taught in school for such a long time. If you fail your English, perhaps it's hard to graduate from the universaty. If you are looking for a job, a good English ability always an advantage. It's easy for you to find a job.

i can't agree with you,in some sense. english is important in China,as a language.but it's just a language.maybe when you are looking for a job,you can get it through your good english, but once you've been in,there are many other things need to consider. for me,math is very important, and other skills other than english.it seems useless, but it brings you logistics.

I know you are right. But the fact in China somewhat seems very ridiculous. Do you know even if you want to have a mainjor of arts, but you still have to pass the English exam. If you want to study master degree, you have to pass English, too. So this is why I said English is the most important subject, although it doesn't make a sense.

Here we don't allow to homeschool for children. Although the education fee is "free", but actually you have to pay many fees such as breakfast, books, notebooks every month. So the education fee is one of the most expensive charge for most families here.

The same here in Philippines. It is very important to learn english not just in writing but with correct pronunciation and grammar too. You can communicate to most people around the world because most people are learning english. ~mar

That's true. English is becoming to be a global language.
