Sweetness only a child could possess

me and my teddy getting all ready for bed - me and my teddy getting all ready for bed... cute teddy

In light of my discussion on my youngest growing up too fast, I want to post something about what he did yesterday. I was going to sleep around noon, I work midnight shift, so that is when I sleep. My little one who just turned eight was lying in the bed next to me. I had my hand rested on his back. I was not quite asleep yet, so I felt him get up. He did it so gently as to not wake me, I kept my eyes closed. In a minute or so, I felt him lift my arm and slide something under it. It was his favorite Teddy Bear. He then leaned over me, kissed me on the forehead and said "goodnight Mommy, I love you" in the softest whisper. I had to try so hard to keep my eyes closed. He thought I was asleep. It was the sweetest thing. So when I woke up, I went to check my email, and he had sent me a little email with pictures and sounds. In it he explained how he left Teddy to sleep with me. These are the little things I will always treasure. The teddy bear kisses, the heartfelt wishes. The feeling of tiny hands searching for my hand while lying in bed. Now I leave it up to you. What absolutely sweet or adorable things do you treasure from your children? If you don't have kids, maybe a niece or nephew. There is just a sweetness that only children have, that I want to hear all about. Please do share.

I'm crying. That is the sweetest story. What a great kid you have. My son, when we are laying down together, likes to just reach up and rest his little hand on my check and he is so sweet and gentle about it. My parents were visiting us recently and my mom is walking with a cane, still recovering from a broken knee. My son watched her from a distance as she came in from the car and got settled in to a comfy chair. He tilted is little head as she sat back, winded and asked "you aww-white, Ma?" with the most concerned, precious look on his face. I could go on and on.

That is cute. They always seem to be concerned and know when something is wrong, even when we don't want them to know. I never realized how many people would be so touched by my little boy's story. It is amazing how much joy and specialness they bring into our lives.

For two days I was away from my home and stayed with my friend's family, some 300 miles away from here. They have a two year old daughter, named shivani. I am very much attached to little shivani. My friends had no kids for seven years after their marriage. All the medical check-ups were positive but of no result. At last they decided to go for some religious rituals to have a baby. My friends are Roman Catholics but they were ready to go for a Hindu ritual performance. They sought my help in approaching a Hindu priest and me and my wife helped them. To everyone's surprise, within six month she became pregnant and gave birth to Shivani. Shivani calls me 'Appoochi' (The real term is Appooppan which means grandpa but little shivani's tongue couldn't go to that extend at this age. Yesterday another friend, Reshmi, a young girl, came there. She was a young girl who played the role of my daughter in a short film and till then she used to call me 'dad'. Reshmi came beside me and hold me tight and said to Shivani that I am her father. Furious Shivani immediately shouted at Reshmi saying I am not Reshmi's dad but shivani's 'appoochi' and began to throw things at Reshmi. That was a moment in life. These little angels are our wealth, our treasure, Misheleen.

Hello misheleen, what a nice story is that. it is really cheering. But I don't have presently anything to narrate like that. But soon there will be. Both my daughter's delivery are estimated for October this year. Then by the grace of the almighty I will be having two grandchildren. Having children in the home makes us not only happy, but it makes us proud too. You are a proud mother of two lovely boys, sorry two lovely young men. LOL All the best misheleen.

Thanks so much for sharing your story! Stories like these make me want to have kids earlier! I do have a story, but not nearly as sweet as yours. My nephew, who is 20 months, is a little gluton. He loves to eat, and will stuff himself until he gets a tummy ache. The one thing that he loves most of all is milk, of course. It's liquid gold to him, and he will scream in terror if one even reaches for his milk while he's drinking it. One time, I teased him by saying "can I have a sip?", expecting the usual head shake. He did shake his head adamantly. But then I said, "oh... but auntie doesn't have any milk... :(" He looked at me, and offered me his milk. To him, that is HUGE! Like I said, not as sweet as your story, but definitely touched me. As for you, hats off to you. You are obviously a great mom who raised a thoughtful and sweet boy. I hope one day I will be able raise my kids to be like that.

Oh My Goodness that is so sweet!! My daughter is only 19 months old so to me every thing she does right now is the most precious thing ever. My favorite thing is that she'll climb up in my bed in the mornings when she wakes up and wakes me up with lots of kisses and hugs. Also, one of my favorite sweet things right now is that she is finally starting to understand that there is a baby in my tummy. She'll pull up my shirt and say "baby, baby!" and start kissing or hugging my tummy. It is so sweet.

That is cute. My son was that way when i was prenant with his brother. One day he took a flying leap at me and landed on my tummy. He was so concerned he hurt the baby, he started to cry. I went to the ER just in case and all was ok. It was cute he was so concerned. :)

Similar things when I was really sick once when the Children where 8 and 5 I was lying on the Settee and my Son came over to me and gently stroked my Hair and said you go to sleep Mummy so you will get well soon, he then told his Sister to sit with me and stroke my Hair while he went to tidy up and she did so gently I used to do it to my 2 to send them to sleep and specially when they where sick My Kids looked after me better when I had Pneumonia then what my Ex Husband did

Those are the moments mothers treasure forever. They outweigh the bad behavior times and the times you want to pull out your hair. They tell you that you have done a good job as a mother and that there is actually hope for this precious child you love after all! LOL. What a special gift! Thanks for sharing.

That's got to be the sweetest thing I ever heard. I have an A4 page on my fridge with an outline of a hibiscus on it. There is some writing on it too: Dear Grandy, I love you. you make me laugh you are the best, Love from Hannah. Hannah is my youngest grandchild. I treasure this piece of paper, more than I can say.

The things they make are precious too. I have never looked at something my child has made and said "what's that" I truly treasure everything they make for me from their heart !! You are a very lucky Grandy :)

That is definitely an moment in time to treasure for a lifetime. You write it down and put it in a scrapbook of some kind for him. Then when he gets to be an adult, you can bring the book out and ask him, "Do you remember when.....?" Then you and him will be able to enjoy this memory together and it will never be forgotten.

My 20 year old boy when he was small he would always tell me, "Mommy you are my best love" and my 15 year old would sing a song to me that goes like this, " I love my Mommy and my Mommy loves me, I love my Mommy and my Mommy loves me very very much." I have to say that they are both very affectionate with me and their Dad. This is thanks to my husband who has always been very affectionate with all of us.

Some Sweet Things about our little son, almost 2 years old. Hugging me in public so thightly I can hardly breath. Telling everyone mommy is his favorite one. When he had a busy day, with tampers, with cryings, laying in his crib and I come in to check on him before going to bed myself and finding him so peacefully asleep. A mothers dream. My darling!

this is really sweet! nad he was already eight! i thought children were less sweet after they enter junior high / primary school. well, for me, it's the way children start trusting you so soon. i had gone to a neighbourign country to do some banana planting, the children in that small village really took to us and two of them held my hand and forced me to run around with them! it was fun but tiring! and they wouldn't let go! and when another kid came and tried to hold my hand, the other girl cried cos i could only hold two kids, and not three cos i only had two hands!
