Jesus is my Homeboy, is he yours?

I have a t-shirt with "Jesus is my Homeboy" on it. It seems to upset some people, yet please others. I'm am not sure why. Are they upset or pleased because I am showing my faith? Or is it because I am a mid-40's, heavy-set, white male? My Homeboy is another way of saying My Friend. I noticed that some of the upset people had stickers on their cars declaring that Jesus is their friend. So I am confused on their behaviour. Can you please enlighten me.

Jesus is my Homeboy, sure, and my only and beloved Lord and Savior, for those who prefer to express it this way. Never mind whether you're mid-something, bony or greasy, green or pink of color, giant or dwarf. Jesus doesn't mind those things, but he said: "Everyone therefore who confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 10:33). I rather think that a t-shirt like yours may provoke looks and questions by non-believers, as I could experience myself with some similar braceletn. In order to win people we have to throw the net, or the hook, and I think that "Jesus is my Homeboy" is a better working hook than some very true but solemn phrase.

Hello bda_rock!(",) I am happy to know that you are proud of your faith. Being a Christian myself, wearing tshirt like that is just one way of testifying and sharing Jesus to everyone. Maybe others don't understand it and they think that you are a show off. God knows your heart and that's what important. Hope that you will continue to testify that Jesus is Lord.(",) Have a great day!(",)

LOL where did you get that shirt?! I want one!! Hee! Well, Jesus can be my homeboy any day of the week! I think people get so uptight when it comes to God and Jesus, but most people are forgetting that we humans have a sense of humor. Does God, a who's complete with both male and female characteristics and just all around perfect, not have a sense of humor? How can He give us senses of humor and He not have it himself? Our characteristics came from His are we are made in His image and likeness! Why can't Jesus be our homeboy? I want that shirt! Haha!

I had it made up at a flea market. The guy wouldn't do it until I convinced him the Jesus was my homeboy. We had a nice discussion about it. the idea came from some kids I deal with.

I guess I'll weigh in on the negative. I personally think it's disrespectful and I believe it was created in a mocking way which is why I've seen the shirt on people like Axl Rose I believe and others. As a christian I don't care for it and although Jesus is my friend among other things (Savior, Redeemer...). There are a lot of "Christian" shirts I don't care for as I believe it violates the 3rd commandment, "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain" which isn't just using it as a curse word but also in a joking or light manner or using his name deceptively which is what all these shirts are about, fool them into thinking it's something else so you can share Jesus. I guess I'm not for that approach. Anyway, that's just my thinking as I thought I would share the non-popular viewpoint.

Thanks for your comments. Would you prefer it to say "Jesus is my friend"? Or "Jesus est mon ami"?
