Asterisk IP PBX server

A lot of voip server so far have not equal the capabilities of asterisk ip pbx server. Asterisk is the most complete feature in terms of sip-based software. It can work on ip-based, telco or traditional based telephone system. You can even let it communicate with several asterisk server to form a larger network to call. It runs on a linux-based operating system .So you are assured its stable and best of all it is an open source . So many programmers contribute ideas to this software to further enhance its feature. Actually you could run asterisk in a windows environment. AsteriskWin32(www.asteriskwin32.com) lets you do so. However, I haven't tested Asterisk yet in a windows environment so I can not recommend using it. I do have 2 production servers here at the center that runs asterisk. Both of them are running on Linux(Fedora Core 5 and Debian Etch). So far, I haven't encountered any major problem on my installations.
