My tomatoes are drowning. My watermelons are huge and not due to ripen for about a month. And I have to wade in mud to pick anything. Last year we were begging for rain. Guess we should have been careful about what we wished for, fuf!

That is why I normally garden in raised beds. They dry out quicker and with mulch will stay moist and even warm up quicker. Kind of an insurance. Not foolproof but it does help overall. We are dry here and I am fortunate that I can water my bit of garden with the water from the dishes. They are looking good althought the heat is curling their leaves. Wish us luck. The frost this spring has hurt the fruit crop in the Ohio valley. Nature has been odd all over.

We have about half an acre that we cultivate. Most of it is on a slope so it usually drains off beautifully. It is a sign of how much rain we have had that the top of the hill is even mushy. And they are predicting more rain today. We are seriously discussing building an ark here locally. Or maybe switching to rice. Yep you are right the weather has gone berserk lately. Anyone know what gives??

Hey! Send some rain to Rockford, IL! We need it for sure. My daughter and I little garden isn't doing to well. It's so hot here, I think the sun flowers are sweating. :)
