Rest in Peace

Regal Rascal - my baby, saying don't take my picture right now

This afternoon at 5:15p.m., Rascal passed away in our arms. We knew he was probably heading that way. His body was shutting down the past few days, today more so then the other past days. I knew it was coming. He was 17 1/2 and very much loved. He thankfully had a nice long life with no real problems. He will very sadly be missed.

Awww...I am so sorry! He was a cute doggie!! :) At least he did live a healthy, long life and was loved so much when he passed away. The only thing that you could do for him was make him comfortable and be there for him! I am really sorry! I know losing a pet can be hard, but think of all the good time you had with him, and know that he did have a happy, healthy, and long life! :D

Oh I'm so sorry - I know how hard it is to lose a pet that you love, particularly when they've been with you for a long time. Very sad but as you say he had a good, long, healthy and happy life which is really what we would all want isn't it?

Sorry to hear that --our dog too is very old and I think we have just another year or two left. We adopted him from a shelter, so we feel good about the quality of life he had with us. It sounds like you were a responsible pet owner also since your dog lived that long. I'm glad he passed away naturally and you didn't have to make the decision to put him down.

I'm so sorry for you loss. Don't ever let anyone tell you that pets are not family members! Our oldest dog is 10 years old, and I hope we are lucky enough to have her for 17 years! But somehow I don't think so. She seems to be getting older every day. But how fortunate you were to have so much unconditional love for so long. Hopefully you will find it in your hearts to allow another wonderful pet to share your lives someday soon.

I agree...pets are family and they are loved just as much as another other person! :D I hope that we are able to have our dogs just as long as the both of you. :)

I am so sorry Angel!!!! I have a couple of dogs myself and would not want to have to say goodbye. I am glad though you are happy enough to say that you were able to share that much time with Rascal and that he had a very full and healthy life. My sincere sympathy to you and your husband's loss.

Please accept my condolences. I know from personal experience that losing a family friend is horrible. He sounded like he was very loved and lucky to have found you here on earth. God Bless.

I'm so sorry for you loss, but it sounds like you had many years of joy with him. I know how you feel I held our cocker when she was put to sleep after being hit by a car. I still miss her and cry when I thing about it. You have lost more than a friend, oyr pets are a part of our family. They know us better then even our family does. We just have to remember all the good times spent with them.
