They want me to pay $169.00 so they can read my poem..How about NO!!

That is a really good one..Whatever!! I am not paying anyone anything..What nerve..It is always something..surely a scam or something...It makes me laugh outloud...

Actually, they should pay you for sharing it with them. It's as senseless as going to work & instead of getting a paycheck, you need to pay the company to work for them. You probably should name the company or site that wants money to read your poem. Perhaps you might want to reply to that & say, "I wrote it, not you. It's my work, not yours. You pay ME $169.00 to read it."

That is what I say too!..My husband says to send the money we use to play monopoly..that should get them going. It is poetry.com...I can read my poem, in the comfort of my home for FREE! thank you...

Are they crazy? Did they really think you were going to pay it? I understand that there are many sites out there that are scams but this one SCREAMS scam.

I laughed outloud when I read the email..First they said they were sorry I couldn't attend the party which I wasn't invited to but they said I was..And since I can't be there is person they will read my poem for me..but..they need $169.00 to cover the cost of doing this for me..Hello..Knock knock, anybody home...Good grief..All I can do is laugh....

That sounds like a scam. Why is it that people assume all of us writers are wealthy and we have to pay people to read our works? I got Writers Digest and found there were so many that just wanted me to post things for free or just for the privilege of being published (oh I would have gotten a free magazine) but I was warned by places that ask you to publish poems.

Just like when you submit something they want to publish in a book, but you have to buy the book...wow! a free magazine..and they are cashing in on your work..
