Why is it that we hesitate to say those two simple words??

Why is that we humans find it so difficult to say those two simple words; SORRY and THANK YOU though we are sure we wouldn't suffer from any materialistic loss by telling them. To an extent we wouldn't mind telling them even to our loved ones; but when it comes to strangers we become so egoistic that neither we accept our faults even if the mistake is ours nor we express our gratitude, if we are thankful to them!!! To visualise what I am talking about, you can consider many situation in your day to day life!!! Say., you enter a crowded bus., the bus is jam packed and by mistake you stamped on someone's feet and before you could say anything he reacts to it and gets wild on you.. So what would be your response to him?? If you are a normal person, you would forget your mistake and instead get mad at him!! Just think about this situation... Its quite common and Life just goes on and you never keep a count of your mistakes.. neither apologise for your faults!!! Now, what if your say that simple word SORRY? You will realize that it does make a lot of difference to this worls and the people here!!!

I have no problem saying sorry or thank you to strangers. In fact, I'm the other way around. I think it's easier to say sorry and thank you to strangers rather than to the ones I'm close to. I think it's because when it's with someone that I've known for years, it's kinda easy to take them for granted and forget how important they are to me. I guess it's also because of the fact that I'm so comfortable around them already. I say sorry and thank you to strangers all the time because I wouldn't want to get in a situation like the one you mentioned.

Yup, you're right~! I always have a problem with this and that's the reason why I have a Gratitude List that I write in. I make it a point to list something down everyday to remind me of what I have in my life.. :)

Well i dont hesitate. I make a point of saying thank you and sorry wherever necessary. I think people find it difficult to say because they think that this would me them feel smaller or to prove that they are superior so anything done by them is best done.

I do agree with you that people nowadays are too egoistic to say these words. It has happened with me many times, when people take you for granted and don't even bother to appreciate you for some favours they have asked.
