Weather---Does it affect your overall mood?

It's hot and muggy here even when you wake up in the morning to 78 degrees, it is sticky and makes you feel icky. I hate taking a shower, getting ready for work to walk out to your car and break a sweat in only 2 minutes time. We have been in the high 90's here with heat index over 100 most days. Some days a shower in the afternoon to cool things off but the humidity is up over 50% just about every day. Combined with the temperatures, it is hot, muggy and unbearable to be outdoors. I find myself wanting to stay indoors in the air conditioning and not in the best of moods...a bit cranky!! Is the weather affecting you and your mood?

Yes, I think weather affects. In the UK we have four seasons. Spring has fairly warm weather but it can rain a fair amount. I feel quite happy at that time of year because I like seeing the baby animals and trees getting new leaves. I know summer is next so this makes me feel quite content with the longer days and pleasant weather. Summer is my favorite time of year when potentially we can enjoy hot weather. But sadly this June and July has had some shocking weather. It has been cool and rainy. I just hope the weather improves in August. In September it is autumn and the weather gets cold again. I hate that time of year because the leaves fall off the trees and the days get shorter. Spring and summer have nice light evenings but as autumn progresses it begins to get dark earlier every week. It makes me feel a bit sad. Winter is my least favorite time of year. I hate the cold days when the landscape can look so depressing. I love to travel. I adore tropical countries that have a hot wet season and a hot dry season. I feel quite happy when the weather is very hot indeed. I don't mind if it gets humid. I went Darwin in Australia during the wet season. I didn't mind how hit, sticky and and muggy it was. I had a shower, dried myself and then was wet again through sweating. I have been to Israel and Jordan in the summer. Wow! That part of the world has a very dry sort of heat. Even 40 degrees is bearable. I think air conditioning can be like getting into a fridge. Somewhere like cairns in Australia walking from a cool air conditioned shop outside into the warm sun can feel very different. I like the sun.

Yes, hot and sticky or cold and rainy just makes me so unhappy. I can't stand days like that, just don't want to leave the house. I am a spring and fall girl, seems like the weather is just right for me during those times of the year.

Yes, if it's very humid and sticky it is very difficult to sleep and I get up even grouchier than normal! When you go out all nice and clean and end up with your clothes sticking to you and sweat running down your back and arms it makes me very irritable and it also makes me lethargic and everything is too much effort.

It was a nice and rainy day yesterday with low humidity in my neck of the woods. It was great, although we don't need so much rain. We have 100% rain forcast again today with flash flooding warnings up. Geeez. What a nice day to go to work on--NOT!

We are used to that kind of heat in India.probably that is why I get all depressed in the winters.somehow I feel very lazy too in winters.and when the weather is cloudy,I get headaches and drowsiness which I absolutely hate.In India, summer temperatures go upto 38-40 celcius which is pretty intolerable.I do get irritated with that kind of heat too.Climate change is giving us more and more extremes of weathers all over the world!

You are correct in the climate change causing weather to go from one extreme to the other! I sure wish we could do something about it.

The wether does affect my mood. I love the rain I love watching the rain. I am happy when it is rainning. I love spring and fall when the wheather is in the 70's to low 90's I do not tolerate the heat. I get headaches from upper 90's and above heat. If it is to hot I am crankie. I also have dizzy spells and get worse when we have a mojor weather change when the pressure changes I get really dizzy and some days I cannot walk.

We have all heard about seasonal affective disorder in the winter due to short days and the lack of sunlight. We have timed lights and other therapies to help with this. For a year or two I have been reading about Summer Seasonal Affective Disorder, the fact that many people have mood disorders related to being too hot and too stick for too much of the time. It is recognized as a depressive disorder as well. Our coolish weather has lingered this year. Yes, in Kansas we are getting lots of rain, and flooding, and it does get sticky and muggy if it is very hot, but compared to usual summer weather, I am finding it to be mild. I can feel for you though, because I get sweaty and sticky and feel grouchy through and through. It is also hard then to fix healthy foods to keep our energy up. We aren't to that stage yet this year, except for one day here and one day there. I wish you a cool breeze, my friend.

Of course weather affects my mood. Like you, I live in a Southern state...Florida, to be precise, and between feeling drained from walking the dog in the morning and afternoon and the shut-in, can't-use-any-electronics-during-thunderstorms feeling that comes in the middle of the day, I get into a really morose and even angry mood.

The weather does affect my mood and it has all summer! Actually I woke up today and it was chilly, about 65 outside. That affected my mood b/c I just wanted to stay in bed, wrapped in blankets! When it was hotter earlier in the month, it did make me feel lazy and blah. We have been leaving most of our outdoor chores to the evenings and that seems to help. Going home and trying to water flowers at 5:30 in the beating sun definitely drains me! But if I wait until 7:30, suddenly I can do all the flowers, and the grass, and the front yard too :)

When it's hot outside like it has been the last few weeks, it tends to make me a great big grouch. I get irritable and snip-snappy with everyone. When the weather is just right...not too hot or cold...I am usually in a really good mood and happy with everything. And when it's overcast or really cold, I'm usually really sleepy and curled up on the couch with the cats.

Weather really affects my mood big time. I feel that I'm more cranky on rainy days. I have arthritis so the rain bothers me. I also don't like it to be too hot. You can always add extra layers in the winter but only take off so much in the summer. I like Spring the best.

I say that weather definately affects my mood. Heat and Humidity makes me tired and also grumpy. If it is constantly stormy it can also make me tired or depressed. We studied how the weather affects our mood and bodies in meteorology class. Pretty cool stuff.

weather somehow affects my mood. i am more irritable if it's really hot. i'm sunny, bright and happy when the weather is also nice, when the sun is shining perfectly and the breeze of the wind is cool. i'm lazy to go out at times when it's really cold in the winter. and i'm sad when it's raining very hard. my heart seems to cry with the heavens.

I'm not particularly fond of the hot weather myself...today we actually had a little break here...not so hot, the humidity lower and we weren't bombarded with the news telling us the heat index of what the temperature actually felt like...LOL--but earlier this week, forget it....the hot weather makes me sluggish, and I feel brain-drained...my focus of concentration is near zilch and I swear my IQ is lowered to two..LOL

Yes. I am happiest when it's warm & sunny with a nice breeze. Rain & snow & gray skies bring me down. Even if I'm inside all day.

Oh yes!The weather definately affects my mood on a daily basis.I live in Souther Louisiana where the humidity is almost 100% every day! It's awful.I get up take a shower and by the time I get to the mailbox at the end of a VERY SHORT driveway, I'm breaking a sweat.I don't even think it would feel any nicer if I walked out there buck naked (although I'm sure the neighbors would love it)I believe that rain definately puts more of a damper on my mood personally though, because there's just something about those clouds that makes you feel crappy. At least in all the mugginess I can wake up..open the blinds and see the beautiful sun staring me in the face in the comfort of my air conditioning.
