Still standing - sort of!

Hi, friend's, here's my latest report on a-SIL's situation. She has made remarkable progress this week against her aphasia, it is resolving wonderfully well as the swelling subsides. It is a bit weird, because she still has memory gaps, actually they flare up a bit more than they did right after the surgery. We'll be sitting and talking, then she'll suddenly lose the thread of the conversation. I have to stop for a second to recall her challenges! We STILL don't have a pathology report, I don't get what the freaking problem is, but I'll deal with that next week. We can't really begin to narrow the search for the right place to treat her without knowing the specific nature of her tumors. I know I have to be patient sometimes, but this is really pissing me off! We know she'll have 10-15 weeks of chemo/radiation ahead of her, which will begin the week after next. Hope they have the damned report by then! Most nights, I stay with a-SIL while li'l bro works second shift, and then we hang out and talk about stuff for a couple hours after he gets home. Most days, I don't even boot up my home computer, I'm just too tired when I get home. SO, life goes on. We're all doing as well as can be expected. Now is when all the emotional stuff is kind of sinking in, and we're doing a decent job of acknowledging the grief we all have to go through for what has happened, and supporting each other as the stages present themselves. She's still "fronting" to me somewhat, putting on the brave face and denying some of her fear and grief, but that's OK. If nothing else, while the chemo is racking her out, she'll have less energy to maintain the front, and that will be soon enough to let her dump some of her burden on these big old shoulders of mine. Thanks for reading, and caring, and all the love and support you've sent our way. I've been reading some of the responses from these discussions to her, and she is deeply touched by and grateful for the love and prayers from around the world for her. Keep up the great work, friends, I value and depend on you more than you'll ever know! Love you and miss you lots!
