Do your kids ever decide they want to play with their old toys?

All of a sudden my daughter has wanted to start playing with some of her older toys. Just earlier she brought me her Glow Worm (which she hasn't played with in over 6 months) and started whining because the batteries were dead. So I had to go switch out the batteries with another toy so she could play with it since we are out of batteries. Maybe she is just getting bored with her other toys. I just thought this was funny since this is the first time she has done this. Do your kids ever do this?

My son does that sometimes, too. Right now most of his toys are boxed up still. Yesterday he got some toys out of a box that had been down in the basement at the old house. He was so excited to find some of his infant toys that he hasn't played with al year! He had a bunch of rattles out, and a few others as well. It was funny. He showed Daddy his "new" toy. My husband asked me where it came from, because he forgot that my son had it, too!

I don't have kids but I play with my niece often. My niece was like that too when she was approaching her 3rd birthday. She got bored with all the new toys and just wanted to stick with Elmo, her first sleeping buddy. She took Elmo everywhere and refuse to let it go. Actually she had forgotten about Elmo for quite some time because my brother bought her Barbie Doll. She played with Barbie all day long and suddenly didn't want to play with her anymore. I guess she must feel guilty leaving Elmo all alone. Lol. I've always wondered what is inside a kid's mind. Wish I knew.

My son does this. Sometimes I think he forgets about some of the older toys he has, and when he starts looking around in his room, he finds the old ones and plays with those. Wait till you decide to give the room a good cleaning and get rid of any "old" or "outgrown" toys. My son hates that and insists he still needs the old toys too. I usually have to clean his room like that when he isn't around.

It happens all the time. Kids are like that. They get tired of the toys and maybe a year down the road, they ask for their old toys. I observed this from one of my nephews. We have given aways the toys we think they no longer wanted to play, and suddenly out of the blue, they remember there is this toy and ask for it! The fact is they remember it wasn't spoilt when we claim it was spoilt and discarded. The toy happen to be one he played 3 years ago.

My daughter does this sometimes, it's weird coz she has so many great toys & she'll always go back to her very first soft rattles & run around the house with those for a while. Then she'll find a box full of toys, drag every one of them out & she always ends up playing with the ones for infants rather than the ones for toddlers which are the more recent & far more interesting ones! It could be like someone else said, just that they find a toy they haven't seen in many months & realise how cool it was when they had it!

The same thing is happening with my daughter, who is three. She is asking for things that she literally hasn't had for months. It is so crazy. We have a small apartment and not a lot of room for space, so we regually change her toys out, but not without her permission first. We will usually donate them, but we buy her new stuff to replace the old toys. We mostly do this to prevent boredom, but I think that we are going to have to stop. It is so weird, this past week especially. We will tell her that it is no longer with us, usually be saying "remember we boxed it up and gave it to other kids." She will be like "oh yeah, I remember, but can I have it back now."

Hey. No my children are 11 and 14 years old, but when there little cousins come around or friends of mine with little ones visit us, my children will go and look through some of there old toys that I hang on too, for what reasons I'll never know lol, but they will get their toys out and let the kids play with them... The mothers often have good visits, because their children are happily playing with the toys...
