In my office, we do not have a cleaner responsible for emptying wastepaper baskets.
Here, we are assuming each individual is responsible for emptying his/her wastepaper
basket. However, there are people sharing wastepaper baskets. I see one full to the brim, but it was not emptied. I am not sure who is going to empty it. lol.
What is in the wastepaper basket? At one glance, I see wrappers (biscuits, chips and
chocolates), crushed paper, empty drink cans and even tissue papers. what else is in
it, I do not know. I wouldn't want to dig into it.
I only discard papers and wrappers into my wastepaper basket. For other stuffs, I will make a special trip to discard whatever that will 'dirty' the wastepaper basket into the common bin where the cleaner trashed daily.
Friends, what do you throw into that wastepaper basket? Do you throw only dry stuff
that will not dirty the basket? Or anything goes into it, wet and dry? Kindly share. Thank you.

Normally it would just be paper stuffs or tissue for me. If I need to throw some sweet or wet stuffs, I won't dump them into the one in my room. I wouldn't want to wake up kissing a roach.:P

I have wastebasket exclusively for dry stuff which is always fill to the max. Thanks to my girls who kept cutting papers. I also allocate one for the wet and sticky stuff. This is the one near my kitchen. I needed to repeatedly remind my girls the differences between the dry and wet stuff. Did they listen? NO, they will still mix the two and and throw anything in it.

Anything which deserved to be in the wastepaper basket is thrown by me in that. Most of them are papers, in office, and some other sundry things. I throw only dry stuff...I do not throw any liquids in that...otherwise it will be messy affair.

Mostly paper trash and any food items I usually put it into the main bins, or wrap it in plastic bags and use the main bins.

I only throw things like paper in my wastebasket...it wasn't meant for things you are supposed to put in the garbage..you could end up with a huge mess just putting something in there thats going to sit and not be taken out as quickly as the regular garbage..plus, wet things in wastebaskets always seemed to attract bugs..I don't need that at all...

I tend to recycle paper, card, cans and bottles so they don't go into the waste basket. I use old plastic carrier bags as a liner for the bin and whatever else goes into the bin can be lifted out easily, then I tie the bag up and put in into the rubbish

i throw paper, tissue, chocolate wrappers... sometimes empty drink cups.
where do you empty the waste? is there a common bin outside or something?
it is only after i got my own home did i realise how indispensible NTUC shopping bags are. we really need them, and i guess if they are recycled it's not so bad??
