What do you do about birthday parties and things like that? My son was born a few days after Christmas so we were waiting until the first week in January to celebrate but this year we waited and did a 1/2 year birthday party. It worked out really well.

I think your 1/2 year party is a great idea. My oldest daughter's birthday is on Dec. 11. When my father said so you have your own Christmas Carol I stopped. I never decorated for Christmas until after her birthday. My granddaughter's birthday is the 29th and so far this has been tough for my daughter.

My husband's birthday is on December 28th, so we always end up celebrating his birthday and christmas together. I would like to throw him a surprise birthday one time since he has never had that, but I'm not sure if he would enjoy it or not. His mother said that when he was little he always wanted his birthday presents on Christmas so she had a hard time dividing it up for him too

My son was born on January 2nd. It is close enough to christmas that we put special effort into making a big deal out of it. The whole day is just for him. We make a big deal out of birthdays in our family anyway. I think so far we have been lucky. He has had 5 great birthdays and no complaints yet.

My oldest daughter's is December 8th so it falls right in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's busy but it still usually works out alright. She did ask for a 1/2 birthday party this year so she could have some summer fun with it and that was a lot of fun.

I actually know a lot of people who deal with this situation and everyone has found ways that work well for them. I like your 1/2 year birthday party idea.

My niece was due around Christmas and I made my sister promise to always keep Christmas and her birthday seperate. She did the first few yearsThe only ones that have seem to keep the promise is me and our mother. One year my niece wanted to have her birthday celebrated in June,so she could have an outdoor water party. That worked well. My daughter was born January 23rd.We were moving then and we waited and had her birthday celeration in April and that worked good as well.

My birthday is December 12th and when growing up, my momma always had a celebration for me seperate from the normal holiday stuff. My stepson's birthday is December 17th and as he got older we asked him if he wanted to wait until Janurary to have his celebration apart from the holidays. We did that and it always worked nicely.
