We all like talking about ourselves, right?

Okay, so in this discussion we are going to talk about ourselves! I know that we are all beautiful and charming people here on myLot, but I'm sure we can find at least a couple flaws among all the greatness. What is one thing that you don't exactly love about yourself? (physically/personality-wise/whatever) What are one or two things that you DO love about yourself? I'll go first. I hate my nose! It's silly, I know, but I have the same nose as everyone on my dad's side of the family: big, round, and bumpy! Everyone makes fun of my nose :\ I dream about getting a nose job someday, but I'm too afraid of looking like Michael Jackson so I will probably just stick it out. Although it does scare me that your nose and ears never stop growing... What I love is my ability to look on the bright side of things. I try to stay positive if at all possible and I think it makes me a pretty pleasant person to be around. Your turn!

I like it when you say "least a couple flaws among all the greatness" :) In my case it should be "least some greatness among all the flaws"! So here it goes : Personality wise : I lack consistency in anything i do, i either give up too easily or loose interest quickly! I am very gullible and can be easily made to do almost anything if asked in a nice and warm way! Physically : I have a little bit of pot-belly problem! what makes it worse for me is that nobody in my family has this problem and due to my inconsistency issue i cant stick to dieting for more than a week no matter how hard i try :(

Hmm.. I have the same problem with my stomach. I used to have a nice flat stomach as I had been thin all my life.. and then I turned 20 and I started gaining weight! I lost some of it and looked pretty good for awhile, but like you I don't stick to anything long, and I stopped dieting and exercising. Now I'm even bigger than before! Oy!

I don't think that you would be silly enough to get as many nose jobs as Michael Jackson has. I figure he has had at least six or seven. I did not know that the nose and ears never stop growing. That is a pretty frightening thought. One of my biggest flaws is my lack of patience. I am the type of person that does not like to waste time. If I have no control and I don't see the point in having to wait, I can get pretty nasty at times. The good thing about me is that I am a very loving person. I love everyone and try my best to be understanding of their needs.

With me I worry about my weight. I am on a diet but I have had a time with my weight since childhood. I love that although I am in my mid 30's people think I am in my 20's so that is great.

I hate my nose too...it's big (thanks dad) and bent thanks to a backhander from my first husband. (see photo in my profile...I tilt my head so it's not so noticable...lol) but that's not what I really hate...I hate my teeth. They are yellow and crooled..(again..thanks Dad) my Mum had lovely, pearly white straight teeth. All of us kids got Dad's teeth. I love my sense of humour, it can be clever and wicked and wacky. I can always find something to laugh about. Also, I try to treat everyone with courtesy, kindness and respect.

LOL! Ah Michael Jackson...if every plastic surgeon had a photo of Michael in his office I'm sure plastic surgery wouldn't be phenomenon it is today. Hah! I'm pretty comfortable in my skin. Not to say that I'm a raving beauty or anything, but I'm pretty content with myself. If I have to choose one thing though, it'd probably my oily skin. It's just sooo oily, to the point where my make-up starts to come off with the oil so I hardly ever wear any, even if it's super matte. Every few hours I have to go to the wash and pat my face dry. If I pass my finger through my forehead it always stays all shiny. I hate it! I may be making a bigger deal than it really is, but I just wish it were normal. It's such a pain to have to be on top of my face 24/7.

I have really oily skin like that too! I don't know why it's so oily, but I can't really wear makeup either... Even if I do nothing all day.. I mean, I can just sit there and my face gets mad oily. I tried using powder, but that doesn't seem to help.. it makes my face feel worse. I usually just rinse off my face a couple times during the day with water. Hopefully in later years we will not have this problem.

Same here! I have a office job and most of my work is done sitting down yet my face still oils up. It's so unfair because my mom and my dad both have great skin, not oily at all. My family in both sides have fairly good skin...yet I have to come and somehow end up with skin that practically sweats without any activity. Lol. I also hope that it'll be better in the future. Here's hoping!

My hair gets greasy too fast :( I have to wash it every second day. I also have a tendency for pimples :P I like being tall, and I love my hair when it's not greasy.

My hair gets greasy, too!! I hate it. I have to wash it every day otherwise it grosses me out. I tried to go without washing it because I heard if you did that it will rebalance itself or something and stop getting greasy. I think I made it 4 days and I couldn't stand it anymore. You're supposed to leave it unwashed for like a month or something.. yeah right. I get pimples too, I've had acne since I was in elementary school (wtf?) but it's a whole lot better now. Birth control pills helped a lot, too bad I'm not taking them anymore.

I might try that... or maybe I will just cover my whole body in it and pretend I'm a ghost for the day.

God, I'm barely able to stand three days, much less than a month! Since elementary? Oh, I feel for you! I'm glad to hear it's better now.

I am overweight. But I am jolly. I smile a lot because I am happy. I teach and I love my job. I love my wife and kids and they are all great. I am working on losing weight per doctor's instructions. So far I have lost a few pounds but I have many more to go. So my flaw is being overweight. What I like is my positive attitude in life.

What I hate about myself...well there are a few - my hair (its VERY VERY naturally curly and I can't just wash or go), my shyness (though this is getting better), & my weight (thighs, butt, and belly). Yes I listed more then three, but these are my top three and I couldn't choose between them. As for what I love about myself - my eyes, my smile, & my giving nature. This was a great question hon. Sorry I went over the limit. hehe :)

Hey wim, First off I'd just like to say if that's a pic of you in your avatar you're cute & don't need any plastic surgery & I learned at a very young age that skin is pliable so if you push upwards on your nose w/ your top lip over your teeth 100 times each day like when you put your lotion on (that's when I do it) you won't have to worry about your nose growing trust me my Momma had like a hook nose & I was worried about growing one too b/c in her baby pics she didn't have that so I've been doing that trick since I was a very young teen & you can see by my pics I didn't grow a hook nose I also push up on my neck w/ lotion so it won't get wrinkled & my neck looks better than my younger sisters. Now my turn I hate my stretch marks on my belly I wish I didn't have them but I guess that's my badge of womanhood for having a baby. Two things I love about myself hmmm...I love my ability to make others laugh & speaking about physical features my boobs but I don't make ppl laugh w/ my boobs LOL

I have never heard of doing that, but maybe I will try it. The biggest problem I have with my nose is the bump in my bridge though so I guess there is not much I can do about that since it is a bone lol Thanks for the comment.

I hate that I tend to carry any extra weight I gain in my hips. And I feel like my pores are the size of dimes. But I love my good taste and fashion sense that allow me to downplay those two flaws when I want to.

Your mom should stop telling you to get a nose job!! If my mom told me I should get a nose job I would be so upset. I don't mind my family poking fun at it because it looks just like my fathers :P but that would hurt my feelings! It sounds like you have a cute nose :)

Actually I'm generally quite happy with myself but personality wise I would like to be a bit more laid-back and relaxed. I'm a bit too aggressive for my own good sometimes. I really don't like myself when I lose my temper but that happens much less as I get older because I'm gradually learning some self-control. Physically I have a bit of a "thing" about my nose too. It's ok from the front but I hate seeing it in profile - I just think it looks too long. No-one else has ever remarked on it but I'm sure it's longer than it should be. The thing I love about myself is actually the same as yours again! I'm an eternal optimist. No matter how bleak everything seems I always try to find a positive. I suspect it's actually a bit irritating sometimes for those around me!

I hate my tummy. I wish it were more flat than lumpy. lol I also hate the fact that I have arthritis and weak ankles. What I love about myself is the ability to adapt to almost any situation. I am always there for my friends. Even if what they are saying is the same thing they've been saying for the past few weeks. It doesn't matter. And I love the fact that I have the ability to, as my mom says, turn one quarter into one dollar. I can make my money last and stretch it when need be. I'm not quite sure how I do this, but that's ok. By the way, your nose looks fine!

You are so right, wooitsmolly, we do all have positives and negatives. I look to others mostly to tell me about my negatives-after all, who wants to admit that they have negatives. My children have accused me of being a Perfectionist. I guess it stems from when they were growing up and did not do a chore properly. If I found this situation to be so, I would make them do it over, correctly. I was taught that anything worth doing is worth doing right. My best positive asset is that I always have a shoulder to lean on for my friends and family.

My mother was also a perfectionist about cleaning when I was young. She did the same thing and I used to get so upset about it :P It seemed like she was always sweating the small stuff. But now that I'm living on my own I find that when I clean I have to do everything 100% or else I don't feel like I did a good enough job. I try not to complain to my boyfriend about his cleaning, but he never does a good job!!! I always have to do it over. I realized I am just like her.....

Well as I read over the responses of all the beautiful Mylotters who love themselves so unconditonally I am really impressed. Seriously.. the old time baseball player Dizzy Dean always said, "It ain't braggin' if you've got it..and you do it!" So congratulations to all of you...it shows a lot of confidence. These kinds of comments are refreshing to read...I don't like the "Awh, gosh, shuckins, you don't me...do you?" responses when you give someone a pat on the back or a sincere compliment...way to go Mylotters! Anway enough of the rah/rahs. In terms of body-image I have come to love the body I have as I matured. When I was younger I had two eating disorders after going into modeling and getting caught in the image-management trap. After overcoming those compulsive coping patterns I learned how to come from an inner center. My tough life lessons put me in a position to share what I learned with others and I work as a life coach, group leader, free lance writer and public speaker. The healing journey led me to the place where I love the body I have. It went through so much and I am stronger and healthier than I was in my supposed 'youthful prime.' Would I like to be a little smoother, more toned and firm in the abs, butt and thighs..sure. But I'm not hung up on it because I love who I am from the inside out...the rest of it is window dressing.
