For merely calling your name in an NBA draft is so promising, why wont China's Yi Jilian wont play for the Milwaukee Bucks. For thousands of basketball players aspire to play in the NBA is a dream it is a waste for this guy to refuse to showcase his talent for team the had Kareem Abdul Jabbar in it. Yi should be proud that he was picked by such team. Think it over.

The main reason for the rejection is that the Asian population of Milwaukee is about 2 and when I was there it was three for a few days. Basically, they don't want Yi to be in a predominantly white area. It's just not diplomatic apparently. I agree he should go, but that's why he's not going to play for the Bucks...

Now they are saying that it's because he won't get enough playing time with the Bucks...but I don't see what other team might give him more playing time. Plus Charlie Villanueva plays small forward really so he should get enough playing time. They say that he needs to prepare for the 2008 Olympics but staying in china is not going to do him any good when he's already one of the best player in the Chinese League...very confusing...Chinese officials seem to try to find a diplomatic reason to say no to Milwaukee...

I think that sounds like a cop-out (not enough playing time), if he was truly confident in his skills then he'd probably go no matter where it was. If he's worried about playing time before he's even signed with the team, then he's got a few problems namely that most people picked in the draft don't end up to as good as their potential. I think it's all about where he goes, and if there is an audience that will embrace him or work his way into a larger market.

i don't like Yi... for a rookie to reject to play for a team is unreasonable for the main reason of "hes not a superstar". he should be thankful that a team pick him at the first round not only that hes part of the top 10 draftees. he must prove that he is a great player that he claims to be or else he end up at the sidelines alongside with other benchwarmers.
