I could kick myself for not teaching my son baby signs before now. He cannot talk or make much noise due to his tracheostomy, and had I started when he was a few months old, maybe he would be communicating with me now. Anyway, I had found a website a long time ago that showed different signs to teach children, and now i can't find it agai. Does anyone have any baby signing sights that you have used? I'd really like to start doing things with my son and see if he can catch on. Hopefully it will help him communicate until he gets his trach out. Thanks!

I realize you wrote this a year ago... and I don't know if you still need this information or not. I was looking to teach my daughter the sign for potty because we are working on potty training at an early age... anyway... I found this www.signwithme.com/images/swm_cheat_sheet.jpg

Thats great information! I'm still trying to teach my boy signing, and he hasn't really picked up any of it. We've been working on "more", "done", "drink", "help" but still he hasn't done any of them!! i will check that sheet, it might be something that I can use! Thank you for the information.

They say that some kids will also make their own signs... my daughter signs alittle... but the only thing we tried to teach her was potty... but she made up her own signs when she doesn't know a word. If she's cold... she scratches just below her chest... and it seems potty is that she rubs her low tummy. It's kind of weird... but someone told me to look for made up signs. Good luck!

I have a couple really good site. If you search ASL (American Sign Launguage) you will come up with a whole list. Also Wee sign is a good video. They have a few different ones and we borrowed them from the library. Kids seem to love them and learn at the same time. I didn't bother with spending money on books and such when the internet sites are soo good.

I'm hoping to find a chart that i can print out and put it by his bed and in random places of the house so that I can remember the signs too. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to look up those sites and maybe see if they have that video on Netflix. Thanks!
