Why do you want to delete your cookies? There are good cookies and bad cookies. Most cookies actually helps you surf the net as the regular websites you visit will recognise you immediately. If you delete all your cookies... two things will happen... 1) You will have to re-sign in all your favourite websites like "myLot" because they will have forgotten you. 2) As soon as you connect to the internet... every website you visit will start downloading cookies on your computer again... so it is a waste of time. There is a free program on the Internet called "Spybot". You should download it and install it on your computer. When you run it... it will find any harmful cookies as well as any spyware on your computer. This program is a must for anyone surfing the Internet. I am using it for the last 7 years. When it comes to maintenance... Once you have run Spybot For Windows XP... go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/ disk clean up Tick the boxes Temporary Internet files Recycle bin Temporary files It is better to leave the rest if you are not sure what it is. Once you have done that... go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/ disk defragmenter And defragment your disk. This could take several hours depending on your system. How often should you do this? It depends what you do with your computer... If you make a lot of changes to the system by installing new programs or removing old programs... you should defragment your disk once a month. Under normal operation... once every two or three months should be enough. You should do a disk clean up at least once a month... and always before doing the defragmenting. However... if you remember to empty your recycle bin (I have seen people with a 1 year old computer and they never had emptied their recycle bin) and delete regularly your Internet temporary files... there is little need to do a disk clean up.

I either use Ccleaner or delete them when they show up after my daily ( well when I can be bothered) scan! It's really easy your scan programme should be able to delete them easily! xxx

Besides the program that was mentioned before, there's also the one I use, called Free Internet Eraser (you can find it pretty easily at any download site). Apparently they do the same job, but I can't tell you each one is the best because I've never used another one. Anyway, it's recommended for you to clean up your computer at least once a week, to delete cookies and all your internet traces.
