What is a GOOD Life anyway.....
July 18, 2007 2:57pm CST
As I am new to Mykot I thought I would start my first discussion on a topic many of us think about, or do we. I have found through out the hustle bustle of our busy lives many pay lip service to what a good life is. One has to stop long enough to try and savour what is working and explore what is not. From there I believe one can then only truly map out a live to be savored not just lived. I have travelled a bumpy road through life and have found I can measure my life best when it is good. I have noticed though. our tendancy as people is to examine life when it is not going well. So what make a GOOD life? When do you determine that?

For me here is my list: 1. To be love and feel being wanted - I guess this is the basic need for me. 2. To have a peaceful life - as I'm getting toward 40 now, I feel like is a bit stress for daily lif; hence, it's important to me to have a peaceful life. 3. Be Happy everyday - there is a saying that "Happiness is a choice", but as sometimes thing won't be as smooth as we always want to; it's hard to choice to be happy at the time. 4. No worrys including spend moeny when I need to - I'm not a big spender, but I'm tire to think every time whenever I need to spend my money. With today's working environment, it seems there never enough for retirment fund.

Hi! Sorry about taking so long to get back to you but it has been a very busy week. You seem to have your priorities in life straight. But it sure is hard to juggle and look forward to the future. I agree, unless you win a lottery it seem no one can ever get that far ahead

Thanks for starting this discussion! I have been so busy lately that I haven't really stopped to think about how good my life is. I have also realized this through other discussions on mylot. 1. is where we live. We live in a small rural community. We have lived in the city before and we love the country, it's just so peaceful hear. 2. Even though we have two rowdy energetic boys, we are thankful and blessed that they are very healthy and we don't have deal with any major health issues. 3. We live in America. We are more blessed in this country than most in the world and we take it for granted! It is sad that we can't be happy with what we have in our lives as some people in other countries don't even live in a house that we would consider appropriate. Despite the amount of money in our bank account, we have lots of family and friends and just this alone is a great blessing. Thanks for making me be thankful!!!

According to me, Good life is the life where you have the Peace of Mind. Nothing is more is important to me in my life than the Peace of Mind. Think about this. You have everything you can think of, but you dont have the Peace of Mind. Do you think you will still like your life ? For me, the answer is NO. But with just Peace of mind, everything else will appear to you as the minor ones. Love is the next thing that can make your life more good. When you are loved by someone sincerely, you will definitely feel good about you and your life.

Welcome to the community. Ah! The Good Life. Its what all of us want but few of us actually achieve. To know what the Good Life is, either you have to be born with a silver spoon or you have to marry the Good Life. Its all about having money, money, money …more than you know how to spend (its different that if you have that much money, you will also have people who will show you how to spend it). Even I have gone through many rough patches in life and my experience tells me that to be young and to have loads of cash… to enjoy life as you want, with not a worry, not a care in the world…that’s The Good Life. You can enjoy life only when you are young…its not the time to stop and ponder over life’s graver issues, you will have time for that. But youth…once gone will never be young. The Good Life means you are well-heeled and so are your friends, so that if you open a business, you don’t have to go through agonizing waits for your customers. Your friends and you sustain each other…Good Life means, waking up one morning and deciding to go the hills for a break…tomorrow itself…in all luxury…and you can actually afford to do so! Good Life means, never having to spend an evening alone …you are always invited to one party or the other…Oh! I have never seen the Good Life and I never will, I know, but if I could just have it for only a month!

I suppose you do not make that decission before it all gone. I to have traveled a bumpy road through life and have learned that above the cloud the sun is always shining. You cannot meassure your life just on the good times, just as you cant on the bad times too. It got to be the whole picture that makes you determine wether it has been a good one or not. Personally i find my self too busy living for the next paycheck, to really notice the small pleassures in life that makes it all worth living.

in my humble opinion, good life is when you know that life is unfair. when you know that there will uncertainties. when you know that all your problems is a reflection of your life. when you know that after all your struggles there will light and after every success future struggles will arise. life is a wheel i may say.

Hi there remo999, welcome to mylot. It is a really fun place to be, You get to make new friends form all the world and fun and get paid for it. I guess a good life depends on where and how you look at it. I think we all have our different priorities. A person in a war torn country may just wish for some peace or something similar. So I guess it depends on the situation a person finds him/herself at a particular time or place.

First of all..welcome to Mylot...my friend. Good to be among the first on your list of what I hope will be many others within this exciting, stimulating on-line community. Hmmmmwhat what is a good life...I like the topic idea. As you already know as a friend I love to partipate in discussions that get the grey matter 'perking.' To start off a good life to me is when my outer and inner world are in harmony...and things are are as they appear. When others within my circle of influence are treating each other with dignity, integrity and respect...that adds to the 'good life.' I have lived through many distorted experiences where those I loved and trusted were not able to honor one of my life mottos..."In openess there is trust and in trust there is love." Slogging through the residue of those events have led me to a greater place of discernment where now I do not go by what people say...but by who they are...and what they do before I will trust them. Other aspects of a good life for me are having people to love...and being loved. Another thing that makes a good life for me is being able to live within my means...financially, emotionally, energetically. I also think the qualify of life is determined by how well you think things through before acting...it has taken me quite awhile to learn that one. Finally I think the good life comes when we are able to live an authentic life...walk our talk...say what we mean...and mean what we say. From that point it becomes much easier to channel energy into things that will have a positive effect on the world and everyone in it. Works for me!

When do I determine if I have a good life? Usually after I've cleared away some of the debris that has been obscuring my good life. With the crap and crud removed, I have space to appreciate what I have, both in possessions and in friends ... my rewards, or outer trappings. These outer trappings of whatever constitutes a "good" life are unique to each individual, and the value of these trappings can only be assessed by that individual. The value of my outer trappings is fully dependant on the degree of innear peace I am able to achieve. The greater my inner peace, the more I am able to appreciate all things in my life. The more appreciative I feel, the greater is my "good" life.
