the U.S. is a nation of immigrants, this cannot be denied.... some people say immigrants bring great diversity and a much needed labor force to our nation. others believe they take jobs from citizens and create poverty and a drain on social services. illegal immigration – particularly from mexico – presents the most pressing political questions today with some politicians supporting amnesty for mexican workers, and others, including President Bush, proposing guest worker status as an alternative. i live in california and have seen both sides of the argument first hand. but i would love to know what other people think about this very hot topic... PLEASE FEEL FREE TO VOICE YOUR OPINION, BUT KEEP RACIST COMMENTS TO YOURSELF

immigrants are all over the world, they are in every country, and there's no problem about that. the problem lies on the illegality of either the entry or the stay. other people work their butts to gain legal access submitting documents and going thru the process while others just go around it all. if this would be ignored and not properly taken care of, it would be so unfair, so alarming, and yeah, so illegal.

i agree with you as well... it's not the problem of having immigrants in a country it's that they don't enter through the proper channels... most of them sneak in and have a baby on our "soil" and then because of some stupid loop-hole the whole family gets to stay.... go figure :-)

I do have issues with illegal immigration. Think back to when our ancestors came to the US through Ellis Island. They went through so much, vowed to learn english, get a job and live on thier own, NO state aid. And they did. They came to America and vowed these things for a better life. But now we have these immigrants coming over and its like we're expected to learn their language and change everything our ancestors worked hard for to accomodate them. I think its ridiculous. Its not them comnig here, its them coming here and taking advantage of everything. When I was pregnant I fought to get on medicaid. We had a 94 GMC truck that was on its last leg and were behind in so many bills. So there we are at DHS and here comes these hispanics with 3 and 4 kids in Lincoln Navagators and having to get translators because they dont understand english. It really gets to me.

that's pretty much how i feel about it :-) if an american moved to a different country they would have to learn the language. i once heard a story about how hard it is to even be able to move to other countries. in australia they require to have full time employment and housing in place before they will allow you to live there. i do not have a problem with people from other countries wanting to live in the U.S.... i just think they need to go about it the "right" way... going through naturalization processes, learning to speak english, getting a job and contributing to the good of society :-)

I think if you are illegal then you should be sent back to your country. If you are sent back once and try to come back again then you get locked up somewhere so you can't go anywhere. I know it's harsh but I don't think they should come over, be sent back and keep doing it over again.
