Should teenagers be given more freedom ?

Should teenagers be given more freedom ? If so why ?

Yes, I have worked out a system with my sons where they are granted more freedoms, but for these freedoms they have assumed more responsibilties, more wrok aorund the house. I said to them in order to be treated more like adults they would either have to get part time jobs and work like adults or slit up the house wrok amoungs the two of them, this has also helped to mature them fasted and keep them in line, they now act more mature like adults and do not make such bad decisions as most others thir age often do.

I think it depends on the teenager. We all hear stories of the rebeling ones and stuff but there are many great teens that are focused and capable of the responsiblity on more freedom. A parent would know enough of what their child is like to know if more or less freedom is needed. As a parent one of my goals is to help them become happy well adjusted adults who are assets to society. A part of that is learning to be able to make good choices when mommy isn't there to hold your hand. So freedom is needed but the level depends on the teen and family. Vicki

I think after hearing those comments I will keep my teenagers on that tight leash
