I just recently watched Casino Royale on DVD. I have to admit I find the new James Bond a bit different from the previous movies. Daniel Craig's James Bond is not as polish nor as debonair in comparison to other actors who played the role. Still he possesses the menace, intelligence and daring of an 007. Considering that this movie is supposed to be about the time when he just received his 007 status, that could be the excuse why the Bond here is raw, rough and elemental. Overall, I still enjoyed the movie. The action was fast-paced, the script tight, and Craig, though not classically handsome, has the lean, hard body of an action hero. So for the mylot members, I'm wondering what is you opinion about this movie. Do you think this new James Bond is good enough to carry the 007 title? Please share...

Personally I thought Daniel Craig looked good as 007. His blue eyes were especially captivating and really made him stand out. As the Casino Royale movie is supposed to be a prequel during which he was very new and was only just appointed as 007, I guess we can forgive him for being unpolished and not so suave, he was afterall very new to being 007 and can't be expected to be full of gadgets and everything. Overall it was a pretty good movie.

Though not handsome in a classical way, Daniel Craig steel blue eyes can get cold as a true killer, which in reality is what James Bond is really is. I actually enjoy the raw power and menace that he exudes which I know in time will be polished as he becomes more and more comfortable as an 007. But I'm sure he will never lose that edge. I hope they will make more James Bond movies with him as the lead.

I liked this version of Bond. It is not so artificial and supertechnical as are those that aren't based on a Fleming story. Although he lacks what had been the "English Gentleman's touch" that Fleming (and Connery) gave to the figure, he seems to be more serious and that isn't bad. I'd like to see future films with Daniel Craig in the role, and hopefully they will be Dr. No and sequels. This could be a good start for the 21st century Bond, James Bond.

I agree with you. This new James Bond film gives the series a grittier, more realistic feel. I like the way Daniel Craig's James Bond metamorphose in the film from the careless, rookie to a more seasoned killer. Looking forward to seeing him more as 007.
