Hi friends, I want to share some good experience with you. It's about losing weight. I was over weight till a few weeks ago. But, I am losing my weight now. My tummy got more tighter and I am more confident. I have more energy now. The secret is "WALKING". Yes, just walking.. I am from UAE and it is impossible to go out for a walk particularly in summer. The heat is unbearable. But, my weight was creating a problem. I cannot walk to the nearby grocery store. I brought a treadmill few months back (start of the summer) I used it only once or twice then. I totally ignored it after that due to hectic life style and moreover laziness. But, later found that my weight was getting out of control. my pants dont fit. My confidence lost. etc etc. I could not spend quality time with my wife and kid. i felt like sleeping as soon as i returned from office. I thought it is high time and that I should change my lifestyle atleast for the sake of my family. I started walking again on treadmill, now with new hope. I started with 3km/hour, 4 and now 5km/hour. And becasue my treadmill is fully automatic, I have to move along with the speed. first day, I walked for about half an hour. I felt a difference on my stomach. It felt tighter but still the effect was not visible. From that day, I walk for 1 hour daily and I am proud to say that I lost my weight and all the fat from my tummy area and look slimmer than 3 weeks back. I feel more confident in office. I have more energy to play with my child. One important thing to those who really want to lose weight. if you are the kind of person who dont like exercise, then brisk walking the the best way. Get a treadmill, walk regularly for half an hour to 1 hour. And watch urself becoming slim. I am true to every word. i know the problems faced by obese people. People with health concerns, please do it only after consulting ur doctor. All the best and have a healthy and happy life.

Hi, Well done on your walking and on the results that you have achieved. I also love to walk but live in Japan where at thsi time of year the only time to walk would be at 5am, not only hot but also humid. I have thought of buying a treadmill but have no room and no money!! Also would I use it if I bought one, I'm weary of investing in things that I might not use. What model do you have? Also I was wandering if you have made any other changes to your life style in your diet or any other exercise. I managed to drop five kilos this year just by stopping sugar and sugar products. I also feel better but would love to loose at least 10 more kilos before the end of the year!! Good luck with your efforts, keep up the good work!

I have the one from LifeGear. I got it for AED 1700/-. An offer was going on and I grabbed the offer. It really helped me. I cannot go out and walk due to the climate. Its nearly 40+ degreess outside. Sometimes even more. I genuinely suggest u to buy atleast a second hand but it should be automatic nor manual. In automatic, we have to move according to the speed. Even if we feel lazy to walk, we just have to keep moving with the speed. these are safely chains so nothing to worry. I am used to it now without the safely chains. I can do whenever i want even on holidays I walk for some time. Good luck to you and hope you lose that 10 kg soon.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Think I'll go and have a look tomorrow for a good treadmill. Wow 40 plus that is really hot. I'm moaning because it's 32 here. I'll let you know how it goes.

You are right, walking is great exercise and if we want to lose weight we really need to increase our exercise. I know that I felt better, and looked better when I was walking more. I have a hard time with it since my knee injury, but I'm slowly trying to get back into it a little at a time.

Hi, Yes, you keep walking slowly and it will strengthen your leg muscles. But, don't strain your knees. When you feel uncomfortable then you stop walking. but before starting any exercise please consult your family doctor or ask his opinion so that you wont hurt yourself in the process. Good luck to you for your health. Take care.

It is good that u r checking with your doctor. I can understand your situation. Do slowly. You can surely lose weight once walking becomes a routine. Walking will help you lose weight and reduce the pressure on your knees that can be due to excess weight. Take good care.

I have been to a doctor for my knee, and an orthopedic doctor, and also in physical therapy. I check with them often, so they know just what I am doing. The physical therapist makes sure to let me know if he thinks I am overdoing it.
