Foods you hated as a kid.....

When I was a child I hated hot spices, liver and certain types of cheese. I also hated all vegatables. Now that my taste buds have matured I love spicy food and eat it like it is going out of fashion. I also eat most vegetables, but I still hate peas and brussle sprouts.Oh and I still abhor liver. What foods did you hate as a kid? Do you still hate them all? Which do you like now? Which do you still dislike?

When I was growning up, my ethnic grandmother always made organ meats (from cow, etc.) Yuck!!! To this day I will get ill if I even smell somebody cooking it. I used to leave the house for hours when gramma used to cook that stuff; I'd ask for a peanut butter and jelly and eat my supper out of the house, lol. The only one I can eat is liver, and that has to be really disguised to mask the taste. There wasn't much I didn't like when I was a kid, I always liked brussels sprouts, cauliflower, lima beans, turnips, and all those weird veggies most kids won't eat. Still to this day I eat all that and like it.

I despise organ meats and have since childhood. The very thought makes me want to puke.

As a kid i always use to hate leafy vegetables like spinach , and bitter gourd..I and my mom had always a mutiny going around with this bitter gourd . although my dad was always to my rescue.....i would always drop it off in his plate when my mom was busy looking somewhere else....Now i do like leafy vegetables ..but i will not consider it as my favourite one...bitter gourd is still not the likely vegetable ..i still look out for a substitute while having my meal

I'm with you on liver, but honestly as a kid I hated pretty well all meats. They upset my stomach and made me feel bogged down. My mom tells me she couldn't choke down any meat when she was pregnant with me, had to get her protein in other ways, and I've always wondered if that played a part in why I couldn't stand the texture and effect of most meats. I'm better with most things, but still have a difficult time dealing with a lot of red meat. I used to eat a lot of seafood when I was a young kid, but after a crab fishing expedition where my uncle took away my 'pet crab' and threw it in the pot of boiling water, I could never eat seafood of any type again. I still can't, the smell gets to me. I loved any vegetable you could throw at me, though. Peas, carrots, brussell sprouts, cabbage, broccoli. :)

I never had any trouble with meats, but two of my step grandkids do. They always devour the carbs and struggle with the protien. You have reminded me of a funny story. A friend of mine was a skinny child who found it hard to chew through his meat. One day he decided to pouch it in his cheek so he wouldn't have to eat it. He actually went to bed with it still pouched there. The next day when his mother came to wake him she hooked it out and said "What the h**l!!!!!!!"

To Whisp My nephew did that too. His mother was so surprised to find a piece of chewed meat still resting comfortably in his mouth. What happened was he was so sleepy the night before, and his chewing pace was so terribly slow. It would take 10 mins or more for him to finally swalllow his chewed food. So that morning, he told his mother that he didn't realize that he had fallen asleep. I was thankful he didn't choke on that meat.

I hated liver, mainly because it felt funny. I also hated peas, mushrooms and salads as a kid. Now I like all of those foods. I have liked spicy food since I was young and can get a lot of it down here in Florida.

Well pretty much the same things I hate now to be honest. As a child I loathed coffee - the very smell of it made me physically sick! People told me I would "grow into it", but the fact is I still loathe the smell and taste of it today! And I'm not just talking about the drinking variety I can't eat coffee flavoured chocolates, cakes or sweets - and if anyone at work has ever accidentally stirred their coffee with the spoon I use for my tea, then I can smell and taste the darned stuff on my spoon for ages, no matter how often I wash it up! And the other two are almonds and coconut - yuck!

I love coffee now, and adore the aroma, but hated it as a kid. It was so bitter. I also like coconut but as a kid I found the texture to bitty, for want of a better word. I'm still not keen on almonds. I just remembered that I also hated marzapan, and still do.

The one thing that I hated as a child was something my mom made for us when we did not feel good. "Milk Toast", yuk. I am not a big milk lover anyway. She'd toast the bread a pour warm milk over it. Ewww!

That sounds terribly mushy.

Yeah, that sounds pretty saggy. I have never been a big fan of milk either. The only time I would eat it is in my cereal or if I put strawberry syrup in it.

I think spicy food tastes so much hotter on the tongue of a child. It actually hurts a child's mouth.

When I still a kid, my parents started me on veggies even on an early age; so they haven't had any problems feeding me. I liked almost any kind of edible foods; even the mushroom, onions, beans, peas, and the bitter gourd. I also got a chance to drink fresh carabao's milk about 6:30 in the morning. I would tag along with my grandpa when he goes to the fields. I watch as he milks the carabao, and I get the first drink, of course. I stayed with my grandparents for a long time when I was small, because both of my parents had to work to support our family (dad, mom, me and my younger sibling). Going back to your topic about foods that I disliked when I was still a kid; what I can only recall is the fresh honey right from the honeycomb - not the processed honey. I really can't understand its taste & up to now, I don't dare to eat stuff like that. But after delivery of my first child, I noticed that I became very sensitive to certain foods. For instance, puddings which came from rice tend to make me vomit. I could eat them, but my stomach forces this food out of my system. I think my stomach feels cold when I do eat this stuff.

I also thought honey tasted weird when I was little, but I mean the stuff from the jar. I thought I should like it, it looked delicious, but didn't taste so nice. Now I like it. I have the same problem with ice cream that you do with rice derived puddings. I love it but I vomit after because it is too rich for my stomach.

before i hate cabbages. but now i like to eat it with every stew it was in. i do not likes spicy foods too before but now i am loving it whether it will be wasabi or red hot chili pepper in my food. kids are very picky i suppose.

I think kids are picky because their taSTe buds are not mature. If it tastes bland, they like it. If it has too much flavour, they dislike it.

I was a pretty picky eater as a kid. But now I'm more open to trying new things. Everytime I go to the grocery store I end up coming out with all sorts of new things that I haven't tried. Some foods that I hated as a kids were: 1. all vegetables 2. any thing spicy 3. cream cheese Those are a few that I can think of right now. What do I eat now? I still don't eat a lot of vegetables but I eat corn and broccoli. I eat a lot of salads now too. Once I tried something with hot sauce, I was hooked. I don't used it on everything. Just when I'm eating chicken and it's a little bland. I have never liked cream cheese. I would see people putting it on their bagels at school and thought it would taste good. But it doesn't really have a taste and it feel like I'm eating some kind of paste or something.

I think cream cheese has an odd texture, and the texture of certain foods is more likely to repel you when you are a kid, for some reason.

I don't think there is a kid anywhere in existance who liked liver as a child. I know I dind't, but now that I am an adult, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!! Vegetables? I loved them then, and I love them now. I didn't and still don't like frozen ones, caned ones or most cooked ones, but I love raw vegetables and salads.

like most of the kids i think, i hate vegetables, spinach and brocoli, specifically. i don't like it's colors and much more the taste. i am eating them now, only if there are no other choices. i still hate vegetables. though i managed to live 36 years of my lives with less vegetables, i am training my child to eat vegetables as much as possible.

Chicken liver and a weird type of soup that my babysitter use to make. Its just plain horrible. I would dread those days when my mother made anything chicken, dont get me wrong i like chicken but its just the liver part.My mum always made sure that its in my throat before i leave the table. The worse part of eating liver is that the taste of it remains for a very long time.. And its hard to get rid of as well..until to this day i can never swallow a chicken liver..

I hated celery because it had a strange taste. In fact I dislike vegetables have that kind of weird taste. I can eat celery right now. I changed because I had a week to stay in the village and we didn't have many things to eat except for celery everyday. Because of the hunger, I became to like eating celery.

As a kid I didn't hate all vegetables. But, brussel sprouts, cooked carrots and peas would make me gag on site. Plus, I had an aunt who would cook us carrots and peas in vinegar. It was one of the worst things I was forced to eat as a child. The only food I can think of that I didn't like then and have grown to love is tuna salad. I don't know why I didn't like it then, but I eat tuna salad at least once a week now.
