I was sleeping so well till a phone ring woke me up at 2 am. It rang several times and I had to answer it quickly before it made my boy woke up. Without seeing the number I answer the phone but there was no answer. I said hello few times still no reply and it kinda made me mad. Then I hanged up. The mobile rang again and again. But I decided not to answer it. I tought it just someone playing around. I How are you if you got a phone call but the caller didnt want to talk? What would you do?

Silent calls can come from all different types of sources so it's best not to panic if you get them. They could be from marketing companies who are trying to sell you something and basically they have an automated system which randomly dials numbers but they don't always have enough people to man the phones so you end up getting a silent call till the system hangs up the phone. There is a possibility that it's someone you know calling you up having a joke (not a funny joke) or someone that likes you and is too scared to tell you or just some creep who likes to ring up women to scare them. I had a dodgy caller years ago when I split up with my ex. I was getting calls at 3 or 4 in the morning and no one said anything, this went on for a few nights, I would just hang up the phone eventually. After a few days of this the caller got a bit braver and started saying dirty stuff down the phone to me, it was kind of funny because I wasn't scared and just said "I'm not your mother, you had better redial!" The guy was speechless for a few moments then started ranting down the phone to me - obviously he was really insulted. I just put the phone down and then turned the ringer off so I wouldn't hear it again if it rang. Didn't get any more calls like that after that! One suggestion if you think it's a creep is to keep a whistle by your bed and whistle loudly down the phone, it'll give the caller a real bloody shock LOL - but then again if you have a child, it might not be the best solution as this would wake him up. I hope you get some good suggestions for this through this discussion :)

Yes, they are all good suggestions for me. I will keep it as an input. Actually I ever got this kinda phone calls years ago. The caller didnt want to talk everytime I pick up the phone. It really pissed me off, so the next time the phone rang again, I just on the phone and put it so near to the radio that I swithed on. It made a sound that would make you ears hurt. Since then the caller naver called again. Thanks for your suggestions.. I will remember them also... :D

This used to be our problem at home, on midnights..our phone will start ringing and then if anybody answers, the one on the othe rline would hang up,It's so annoying and it's bad because we don't have a caller ID at home. What we did, for several nights, we unplugged the phone and plugge diut back in the morning. Good thing it's not happening anymore, otherwise we will be compelled to get a caller ID so we can get back to the caller. One time I remember hearing somebody from home telling the caller that we have his number already and that we will reort him to the police..

Its better to have a caller id on phone. It will be good to if we just out that time and can know who is calling while we gone...

That's very strange. You know, when people are messing up with us by the phone, they pretend to be someone, or say bad things. However, if someone kept on calling me and didn't say anything, I'd not yell at him. This is the first thing that comes to my mind: offending the person. But think twice: it could be someone you know, trying to pass an urgent message, but the person doesn't know the phone is mute. Just cool down, chill out, and get to sleep once more.

That kinda patient thing to do, but you are right too. It could be a person we know. Maybe there is something problem with the phone or connection. Who knows right.... I believe you are a patient person. Thats nice of you.... Thanks for your point...

I experienced the same before. I feel so scared to pick up a phone at so late hours at night. You know usually it won't be a good news or it's an emergent case. In the past an abnormal men made a call to me almost every night at the same time, it's quite annoying. I think this one must be so sick and bored so that he made a call. Later I decided not to pick up the phone at night. So after a few days, I haven't received his call any more. Maybe he already found another one to call to, thank God!

I had that too before at my bakery store and also my sis in law. My employee always got naugthy words every day. But since I asked another male employee to scold him and would turn him to police he rather scared and never called again. I wonder why people could do such thing. Dont they have any important things to do, rite? I think they just a maniac....

One of my daughters had friends that would call at all hours of the night. They would hang up if I answered. I had my phone set up so that unlisted numbers were not accepted. They had to show their number on my caller Id in order to call. I would just call them right back, often awakening their parents in the process. They quickly learned not to call my house at all hours and above all...do not hang up!! Calling your cell phone directly after calling the house phone indicates the caller was looking for you. You don't have caller ID on your cell?

Usually before bed my husband or I will make sure the cell phone is shut off. I hate getting calls in the middle of the night, especially if I have to get up early the next day. Unless it's an emergency than people really don't need to be calling others at two in the morning unless they are certain that person is going to be awake. However, in a situation like that I would get the number if one showed up, than if they called again no matter if they answer back or not I would tell them that if they called again that I would turn them into the police.

Actually its better to turn off the mobile during sleep time. Fortunately I never done that coz I always afraid if there will be emergency calls from my family (but I really hope no emergency cases ever happened). That will be a suggestion to answer the person like you did. I will take this as an input. Thanks

Well, If they dont talk and they keep calling like this then I will turn off my phone. If they have something really important to talk then they will leave you a message. I hate when people call me at night... I know sometimes it is an emergency but if so then talk.
