Do you usually use instant or fresh potatoes?

I have actually never heard of 'instant potato' is it just a powdered form that you add water/milk to or something along those lines? I suppose I would have to go with fresh potatoes, seeing as though they're the only form I have used. We normally use them a fair bit in our meals, so they don't often go off or get neglected, and I don't have to peel them - my boyfriend happily does so for me, so really, it's ideal =D Mal.

Instant potatoes? Is it those potatoes where often found in groceries which are already frozen? Well, in our family i prefer buying fresh potatoes to ensure that the nutritional value is greater and in addition the taste is greater than the instant one.

I usually use fresh potatoes as I find that instant potatoes does not taste as good as the fresh ones. Of course ,if you do not cook potatoes that often,it does make sense to get those boxed ones instead.

i use only fresh potatoes,are more healthy and tasty then instant.by the way in my country the instant ones are not used so much,but the fresh potatoes used very much.i like them cooked in different ways,mmm...they are good....boiled and then mixed with a piece of butter and some milk are yammy yammy

I think it depends on what you are making. Most potato dishes I use fresh. For example- au gratin potatoes, french fries, oven fries, home fries, breakfast potatoes, hash browns, etc. Sometime I do use boxed potatoes to make mashed potatoes. It is convenient, cheap, and they come already seasoned. Potatoes are always good to have on hand in the house though, so that's why we often use fresh. They can add bulk to most meals, are very cheap and very filling. Plus, who doesn't love a good potato dish ;)

Many years ago I thought it would be a good idea to try instant potatoes, as my fresh ones were always going off in the cupboard. I really didn't like the taste however and have never used them since. Now to stop my fresh potatoes going off, I buy a smaller bag and use them with every meal in some variety or other, whether it's mashed, boiled, jacket, wedges, etc. There are so many different ways you can dress a potato up, it's easy to use a small bag in a week now without them going off.

We only use the freah potatoes and why not, they are not much more work and time than the instant ones are. PLus you can control how much sodium and whatnot goes into your food. Some of instant potatoes have more than just dehydrated potato in them.

I use fresh potatos of course seller keep it in cold storage and so potatos are available year round.

I don't like the taste of instanst potatoes, so we never use them. If we are making mashed potatoes we make them fresh. We never used to use our potatoes either, but we started buying the red potatoes, we use those for more things and go through them much faster.

I dont know what instant potatoes are, I always use fresh potatoes we eat them nearly everyday, they are tasty and can be used in so many different ways.

Hi there. If going to cook potatoes, I will use fresh potatoes from the store or when in season the potatoes from our vege garden out the back, really very nice, nicer then the store potatoes... I have never used instant potatoes... I know they use the instant potatoes in Hospitals, well they do in my country anyway, and they taste so fake and yuck too...

I always use fresh potatoes as I hate the instant stuff you get in a box! I have occasionally used the tiny taters in a tin but I think they are pretty gross aswell so I just stick to the fresh ones, we have potato in some form pretty much every night so they never go to waste here!

in my opinion instant potatoes cannot compare to the fresh one's. the instant ones, the taste is bland and they are dry. anything fresh is always good.
