My best friend has broke up with his gf through a text message. He has been dating that girl for about 1 year now and I feel its the most stupid thing he has ever done... He should atleast have the guts to tell her in person because as far as I know her, she is very shy and readily stirred by emotions. But as dumb and stubborn as he is, he doesn't want to agree about his mistake and we've got a fight. What do you think, is this a way to break up or not???

I think if he has already decided not to see the girl anymore it's not a problem whether he told her by phone or face to face. The essential thing is that he has made himself heard and has told the girl frankly about his feelings. Also if people can fall in love thru sms so why cant they break up thru sms?

I guess Its easy to say these kinda things when it never happened to u!! Suppose ur gf breaks up with u through text, would u accept it thinking that its not problem so long as she made u hear her feelings?

You guessed wrongly koz ive have already undergone thru this situation where girl did actually the same thing as your best mate and thank god we hadn't had face to face confrontation koz at that moment i dont know what i would have done to her. Take a guess maybe now you can have it correctly.

Well, the situation which you described is quite a serious issue according to me.He should have atleast spoken to his gf.nevertherless, even sometimes i feel a bit annoyed/frustrated when they donot reply to my sms. but after some time i just consider myself to be unlucky that i messaged him/her when they are not available.obviously every one would be busy with their own work,so you have to wait in case of sms.

I hate when people do stuff like that. It's like they need to grow some you-know-whats and do it in person. Especially if they were dating for a year. That's a long time! I feel so bad for his girlfriend...I don't blame you for being mad at him. That is really low!

Generally no. I would hate if this happens to me... but i did it once, but found it the best way in my situation... I just could not keep up with my relationship so i decided to end it. Situation was like this. I have dated a man who was far away. So the options were: to wait for him to come on a date and break up (his favorite band played in my time that day so i thought i would ruin his day twice this way) 2. to break up with him after the concert (that would be hypocritical), to go to his place and break up (the problem is his whole family was dying to meet me since in their eyes i was the one---it would be terrible if i came there and said hello i am here to break up with your son) so i text messaged him that it is over. so that was it... but we did meet few days after to straighten things out and that he got the chance too hear my reasons in person...
