would you rather hear the bitter truth or a sweet lie?

i prefer the bitter truth however hurtful it may be. at least i know the situation. however, there are some things better left unsaid so i guess the sweet lie would work. maybe it depends on the situation or the scenario. probably the reason is also a factor.

These two depends on the situation and the purpose behind it. Is the truth being told without any malice behind it? Without any intentions of hurting someone deliberately? Or is a sweet lie being given to protect someone we love? Or is a sweet lie preferred over the bitter truth because the consequences that it can cause is not much as damaging as the bitter truth? If you ask me, I have to say it has to depend on every matter considerable. If the bitter truth's purpose is to destroy something and make life more unbearable, then I would prefer the sweet lie. But if the sweet lie is given behind maliscious intent, then I won't go for it too. It can be a bitter truth or a sweet lie as long as its sole purpose is to help and not destroy.

i agree with you now. indeed, lies are sometimes necessary in order to maintain the relationship, even just to save it. it depends on the purpose i guess. in a relationship its really hard to tell everything especially if there are factors that are really uncontrallabe.

For me in most cases I would rather here the truth. I don't like for people to sugar coat things for me. And I don't like to sugar coat things for other people. I think honesty is the best policy.

I would always rather hear the truth. While it may hurt at the time, I think overall the truth will be less painful. Lies tend to build on one another, and the hurt would be far greater after hearing lie after lie than just dealing with the truth to begin with.

Hello, Rexiemay! I believe that there is a certain time for both of them. At a right time, and a right place, it's better to hear a sweet lie. At others, the bitter truth. But, no matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, you must be ready for the bitter truth to accept it. If someone tells you the truth, and you are not ready to accept it, you'll just get angry, ignore that person, and this kind of thing. You'll get crazy, until when you find out that it is really true and you go and apologize. So, get ready!
