Harry Potter - Are we done yet?

The movies are progressively getting worse - destroying the books. The last #7 was good, started off slow, but rose to the occasion. Tell me - can we leave these wonderful books alone & stop making these horrible screen adaptations?

Yes eve1 who has read the books on harry potter feels that the movies dont do justice to the book.. there are a million people who read the books and many many more who havent read the books or simply dun have enough time to.. in some places the book is simply not available to them.. for those its a gr8 way to know about the story and enjoy it.. even though many pats are skipped from the book some parts changed.. yet its the scenes from the movie that remain in the memory for a longer time.. and helps us to imagine things better..

yes there have been rumours sayin that jk rowling might b writing #8 but i dont see this happening.. The epilogue in the book #7 seems to sum up the harrypotter series for me.. doesnt look like she will want to continue the story any further..

Edit seems that i am pretty much behind times.. and there seems 2 be an 8th book on the way as disclosed on mugglenet.. so lets hope it comes out soon enough... though rowling has said she wants 2 rest now and has not decided when she wants 2 start writing the nxt one...

I don't think the movies were that bad. Its really hard to compress hundreds of pages into a 2+ hour movie. Even J.K. Rowling understands this. I have a little bit of gossip for you though, i dont know if your partial to manga, but it seems that there will be a japanese anime version of harry potter. I hope that would be a lot better. :)

i agree with you. the movie doesn't do the book justice. but we have to consider the limited time that movie have. it will be hard to make a movie with all the details in the book. sometime i think that rowling purposely make the book harder to be adapted to a movie. as of that i think harry potter is better suited to be as tv series rather than movie. maybe in the future we will have harry potter tv series. though it will be later than 2009.

What a fantastic idea! I never thought of a tv series. Now that I would watch. Although, I know I'll see every movie. They've started filming the next all ready.

i do have to agree that at some point that the movies were getting worse at the time, but think about the most recent movie of it, "the order of the phoenix" was quite a hitter if you asked me, but the problem is that they always cut others scenes and place some scenes that we haven't read about in the original book. and maybe... JUST maybe that that is the reason that most harry potter critics despise the movie industry to make a movie out of the books, but think about another option, i've read the other posts before me that they would like to see a harry potter series on the television, and i for one would like that change instead fo them releasing a movie, so that in a way, they can't change the things that the readers read into the series that they're going to watch now is it/ because if so, it would also recieve tha sae critisc that the movie had.

i pretty much agree with u y the critics despise the movie industry to make a movie out of the books.. the cutting and editing are done mostly to meet the time in which they have to complete the movie.. the running time of the movie i.e, so some parts that do not bear much of importance on the movie are skipped out and those that are 2 big are edited and put on the screen.. but for those who havent read the books this makes no diff.. infact they seem to enjoy the movie quite a lot...

Actually, as much as some of us want to stop these screen adaptations, it's hard to do so because that's one of the hypes in the film industry. As a Harry Potter fan, I admit that there are some movie versions that I didn't like (the worst being the 3rd movie). But even so, I still read the books and still love it. Somehow, we jsut can't help but have the movie versions. And I think it is a way to see how one can imagine the books, but still, nothing beats the Harry Potter books. I have read the 7th book, and I can say JK Rowling did not disappoint me. I love the book, and I just can't help imagine how they are gonna make it into a movie. This could be a way to test the directors and screenwriters in making the movie.

Yeah, hollywood's is a bit of trouble. I don't know how they're going to do it. But if they have a plan, I really, really hope it is good...

I totally agree. I also read the book, and wondered hollywood is going to have to do some serious thinking to adapt this one!

I'm with you on that. I haven't read the books, nor seen the films; however, I hear enough about it from my friends. Friends who have not read the books. Maybe this way my friends wouldn't be so lazy, and actually stick their nose in a book! x
