Oops, did you do that??

oops! - Did you do that?
July 26, 2007 10:05am CST
I have been surfing Mylot all morning and coming across many heated posts. One funny thing I seen on a couple of these ‘discussions’ was the Best Response was the very person the author was flaming with. So this sparked a question for me. Have you ever accidentally picked the wrong post for “Best Response”? -If so, did you try to get Mylot to change it? -If not, do you worry about making this mistake and do you think it would be a big deal to you?

I've done it by accident before. Thank goodness one of my friends here told me to contact admin and they'd fix it. I felt like a real moron, but it was fixed for me within a few hours.

LOL - I don't believe I have ever marked the wrong post for best response. I usually re-read all of them and then make my decision with the post I have in mind remembered. I guess with that said - I don't worry too much about making the mistake. If I did though and it was a truly awful response then I think it would bother me. And I would at least let the person who made what I thought was the best response know. I think that's a funny situation though unless they just loved the argument :) Will mylot change it for you? That's something I would have never thought to ask them.

Yes they will do that for you if you ask. I think if I did it for a jerk I would have to get ahold of mylot to fix it. I would not be able to stand myself until I did.

I have and when I realized what a mistake I had made I made a comment to the wrong recipient and said I appreciated their great comment but I really meant for the person below them. I also made a comment to the person I really meant to get it and explained my mistake. I kept checking back but neither of the users commented back so I figured what the hell no-one really cares.

LOL, yep I have made replies with no one ever coming back or at least to respond anyways and I think the same thing, they didn't care, so why did I bother? LOL

I haven't done that yet. I wouldn't try to get Mylot to change it or anything. I would probably just forget about it since I don't think it's a big deal anyway. I wouldn't say anything because I think that would just make the person feel bad. It's like giving them a treat and then taking it back! lol

It's like giving them a treat and then taking it back! lol LOL, you do have a point, but a few of them I have seen, I would think the author would be more than happy to do that. I have even seen them pick the best BR and then continue to flame the poster a day later. It's silly

I have accidentally awarded a best response before. I have decided that it is best to just not worry about it. As a friend here at myLot suggested to me, the person that received the reward probably could use something good happening to them that day. It is not enough of a deal for me to worry about contacting myLot to get it changed.

Ah that was sweet though, you never know if that was a little pick me up for that person or not. It could be it just did give them a little extra something to help them feel better.

i think it was not a mistake. if a had a good discussion with somebody who would not agree with me and we were fighting (not insulting each other) i would give him the best response mark. it is not necessary to give a best response to somebody you mostly agree with. i never yet wrong pick a best response jet... but i would not wory much if i did.

flaming is being insulting to one another. Anyway, I do agree, Best Response doesn't have to be someone that agrees with me.

I guess I haven't made a mistake in awarding best Response. I make sure I read and mark the one whom I meant it to..but to be honest, i don't think I can give it to someone whom I was fuming mad or flaming mad at..Of course It feels good that have not feel bad or mad to someone here untill now..except for those cheater with multiple accounts.

Oh they are out in droves too! I am spending more time reporting them, than I am posting and making money. I don't mind though, if it helps to keep this place going, I will do it.

Hello sunshinecup! I see what you are saying, sunshinecup! I choose my best response very carefully, There hasn't been any such accident where I regretted afterwards that I did select a wrong person. I think best response should be given in spirit of best response, not just to one who agrees to you. I have awarded some best responses to responders who disagreed with me. Similarly, I have been awarded best responses where I strongly disagreed with the posters. I don't know, if they regretted it later. But, in one such case the person with whom I disagreed with vehemently, while leaving mylot, paid a tribute to me and asserted that it was a good choice. I too, while arguing, acknowledged the genuineness of the poster and my pleasure to talk to him even though we had strong opposing views. It just shows the greatness, humans have in them and can enjoy above the level of mean spirited people. If I did, hypothetically, selected the wrong person, I wouldn't ask mylot to change it since they don't mean much. Moreover, most of the responders in my discussion are great and best response going to any, even if the person I didn't intend, wouldn't put me in a place to contact admin but I'll somehow let the deserving person know that I really appreciated his/her response without letting the wrong person know because it would again be wrong to do that.

Wow you have a great way of looking at it. I understand not wanting to hurt the poster's feeling over your mistake. That is sweet.

I would not lose sleep if i accidently rated someone in a positive way even if it were on accident. I would feel horrible if i rated them poorly when they didn't deserve it. I hope I haven't done such a thing. I try to be very careful when hitting those buttons.

Yes i have made that mistake, havn't we all? No i did not contact myLot to make them change it back, coz basically i do not care, bar the fact that i best rated somebody who should have been degraded. Bu basically as i say it does not bother me too much. I do the rating when if feel for it and i dont when i don't´. I do not worry the slightest about it and it will not desturb my sleep.

See you are good guy! It's also a better way of handling, unlike me letting it burn my biscuits until I got it fixed, LOL.

Well i never do it.I always make my first response the best response after all early birds always win,
27 Jul 07
That isn't fair to your responders though. Best Response should be that, Best Response, not first response. You will find you will have more people interested in your posts, if you give everyone a fair chance. Of course if this is all about that penny, well it doesn't really matter.
