As many of my circle of friends on mylot know, I write a devotion, that I post on mylot. I also e-mail that to about 75 people that have asked to be on the list. The e-mail includes a prayer list..specific needs that people need prayer for. Such as family deaths, illnesses, cancer treatments etc. Today someone added the daughter of their friend who is going to have a gamma knife radiation procedure done in August. Anyone know someone who's been through this? I've done a bit of research, because I'd never heard of it before, and it's a very delicate surgery done to remove meningioma's and tumors on the brain. Just curious if anyone knew of a success story.

i do know someone that had this done. She was in her early thirties at the time. She has done very well. She had it done in Pittsburgh. It is a very delicate surgery but it has saved many lives and given better quality of life. I will keep her in my prayers.

I would appreciate that. Her name is holly and she is having the procedure done at University of Virginia either Thursday or Friday of this week. I'd appreciate the prayers for her, her husband and 3 daughters.

A family who I go to church with has a daughter who lived in SC. She developed a brain tumor and has had several surgeries for it as well as the gamma knife radiation procedure. She lost some of her memory and is quite a bit slower now. She was so young. She was only in college. Not married and had no children. She had to have constant care for about a year. She had many problems after all the things they did to her. I cannot say that all of them were caused by the gamma knife radiation though.

This lady is in her 30's and has a husband and 3 beautiful children. She has an AVM, which I'm still a little shaky about what that entails. She's had several embolizations done, and is now ready for this gamma knife. She is doing so much better than when she first started having the seizures from the AVM.

I have been reading about it on the internet, and it seems like a pretty straightforward procedure. It also seems that it's a common procedure that is being done more and more often. Of course, I would worry, simply because they were working on my brain.
