If any CD or DVD is getting stuck or hangs intermittently somewhere, stop it immediately and go to end or to the nearest part past where it got stuck and rewind and pause at where it got stuck and most of the time it plays normally this way after that, it works for me most of the time.

Most of the time a CD or DVD will stick if it has a scratch on it. You can buy a CD or DVD repair kit. What it dose is repolish the disk and that fixes the problem most of the time. If it is all your disks that get stuck in your player then you may need to run a DVD or CD cleaner in your drive. It will only take a minute or two. If you find that dose not work, I would say it is time to replace the drive. The cost of the players have come down alot. If you find that you scratch DVD or CD easy, witch alot of people do, you can get the CD/DVD protectors. The are little plastic covers that you put on the cd to protect the play area. It will not change the sound or the way the disk plays. I thank for a pack of 10 it is like 2.95 at walmart. But you can get them anywhere. I hope this helps.

Ditto on cyberopjames' comment. I use skipDr by digital INNOVATIONS. Oftentimes just one run through the resurfacing machine is all it takes, but sometimes it can take three or four tries. If it still doesn't work, it's possible the label side is scratched. If that happens, it's time to get a new disc.

We usually take it out, and check for scratches. Then we use toothpaste going straight down from the small hole not from side to side. That usually works. Otherwise it might mean you need a new CD or DVD player.
