I Could NOT Believe my Eyes.

I had a blooming (pun) weed growing out of one of my bedroom fitted carpets. Now I love house plants but this is totally ridiculous! I pulled it out went outside and sprayed weed weedkiller along the ground where it met the bedroom wall and thought well that was strange but it can't happen again now. Wrong!! It grew back again I pulled it out and it had a long root so I soaked the area with white vinegar (supposed to kill weeds). So far so good. It could be because that part of my house was flooded about a year ago any opinions, hint, etc. I cannot afford the get the whole place re-carpeted so any words of advice would be appreciated! Now I realize I should have taken a photo of it and I will if the sucker (pun again?) grows back. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

First, loved the puns! As with many other poster's I want you to please take a picture if it regrows! I have never heard of such! I have to worry that if the carpet has been flooded, that there is mold under the carpet. Breathing the mold spores is really unhealthy. Your idea of the vinegar was great. As another poster suggested, we use salt to kill weeds (outdoors!) you might try that.

As it has already grown there twice I am hoping the vinegar works. So far so good.

I have heard of that in manufactured homes. Do you have that? I have never heard of it on a site built. But, I can see it happening. Just keep spraying that weed killer on it. Good luck sugar.

I have not heard of this before but was wondering if maybe you have a whole in the floor somewhere for it to come through. I think it would be wise to check around for soft spots in the floor or around the baseboards to be sure. Good luck with your gardening(LOL).

That is funny! I would assume that a seed came in on the bottom of someone's shoe. It must have gotten ground into the carpet. On the other hand, seeds usually need not only dirt but water. Makes me wonder as I have never had that happen. Is your house damp? Weird/

Well, I do wish you had taken a photo of it. I would like to see this. I do find myself wondering how much mold and stuff is in your carpet, and if it is bad for your health. I think the vinegar was a great idea. Hope it works for you. I guess that is taking the term "house plant" to a whole new meaning.

Salt works great at killing anything green. I wonder if there is some way you can use salt without damageing the carpet? I mix my salt with water and spray it on weeds outside, but I don't know about on a carpet area. Maybe dry salt would work though.

I have heard of this happening..the vinegar should do the trick, but if it does grow back...maybe you need to check under the rug if possible and spray there.
