Why does MyLot impose restrictions on Copy and Paste?

I do not have a UPS at home, so I do type it to the notepad, save it in my PC then try to copy paste to MyLot discussions. But unfortunately MyLot doesn't allow me to copy paste on its site since I am a beginner. It says only if I have a rating at certain level, I will be able to copy paste it. Many of you might have faced such situation too. What do you think, that MyLot should impose restrictions on copy paste for the new joinees or not? Will you feel comfortable with copy paste on MyLot?

They do this so that you don't come in and start copy and pasting a bunch of information that shouldn't be here because it's not original content. That is to prevent people from scamming the site. It's called covering your own a**.

It's about originality you are here to present your views so when you type then why c&p sometimes it can prove useful but many of them misuse them it's good that some action is taken about it,it helps stop spammers you will get used when make typing as an enjoyment then see you will not need of c&p you tell that first write it in a notepad then want to copy it,then why don't write there itself !!!!.........

Yes i aggree with you on writing it directly on Mylot.. But i have a problem with it.. I use a PC and there is no UPS at home. Moreover i live in a place where power goes very often.. while i am busy typing in between if the power goes off, i will loose all my typed material/response/discussion on MyLot.And mylot doesn't provide any feature to save my writign as a draft :( thats why i type in a notepad ,save it and then tried to copy/paste. Anyways, cant do it now.... do you suggest any other alternative for me?

mylot doesnt allow copy/pasting because in most cases (but necessarily in yours), its called plagerism and is illegal! everything i write is original!

Yep, I aggree with you.. this seems to be good guess... avaoiding plagarism is one good reason to stop the copy /paste actions on MyLot.

i think it is because of spammers.there are many spammers who post only the links to get some referrals.they dont start or participate in any discussion.by this copy paste restriction spamming can be reduced but i dont think it can avoid completly!

thanks for your response. yes it can never be avoided completely. do you think what people are posting are all real stories? and if you do one thing to prevent something, spammers will do 10 things...

Having spent part of the week chasing a scammer, I am pretty much in full support of the C&P rule. The number of beginners who are trying to rip the system off is on the increase and frankly, those that get to 500 posts already abuse the C&P badly. Unfortunate bu it reall won't be all that long til you get to 500 posts.

Yep me too! While it is a pain, it does seem to slow the spammers down a bit. Of course there are those that beat it with a cheat anyways. I think those should be booted out right then and there.

mylot impose restrictions on copy and paste because they don't want the members to spam around the forum and keep on copying and pasting from other sites on it, after you have reached 500 posts the you will be able to copy and paste

ok... I do aggree with you that MyLot is restrictign users to copy/paste to avoid plagarism and spamming till they reach 500 posts. Bu what if people (spammers) try to copy paste even after 500 posts? you cant say they will not do it... what is mylot doing to stop this?

I think myLot is reasonable enough to keep such restrictions. This is for the people who want to cheat away with the system and earn high income, whereas the genuine people have to suffer. Thats one of the main reasons why such restrictions are imposed on by the site.

well coz some ppl just have the habbit of coping d diss of other ppl. which really is unfair. the members really think hard to start a good diss and d result is dat it gets copied and their share of posts gets distributed and hence it affects the final output of money

I can completely understand why MyLot restrict the copy & paste function. If they allowed everyone to have it from the get-go, there would be spammers galore on this website earning money to spam! I have worked hard towards my 500 posts, and I think the copy & paste function is a good reward for this. I just hope not too many people abuse it. x

Acturally, every mylotter has encountered such a problem when he was a beginner. Of course, me too. Only when the amount of our post reaches 500 can we copy and paste. Now, I only got less than 300, and I'm still far away from acquring this privilege. Everyone feel puzzled about this, but no one could figure out why Mylot makes such a rule. I think the reason is that Mylot is a serious forum that offers people the space to communicate, so we have to be serious on this. What we should do here is to changing ideas with other people, to help those who have difficulites, and to enrich our thoughts, all of these need serious attitude. But there really exist people who like to say nonsense and like to copy others' ideas. To these people, the restriction on copy and paste is a good way to restrain them from saying nonsense.

I would like to at times paste things do, but then again there really isn't much need to copy and paste text as pointed out above, it should be your own opinions of which in most cases if not all, you should be typing directly into the the response box. No big deal really, just enjoy your time here and that's all that really matters in the end I guess.
