How much do we really recycle on a weekly basis

I try to recycle as much of our household waste as I can. I feel as though I'm doing at least a bit towards the worlds resources by doing this, but is it really enough? In our area (UK) we have a bin for general household waste that goes to the landfill site, a bin for cardboard items that gets collected for recycling, a bin for bottles, glass and plastic and a bag for newspapers and junnk mail etc. All of the recycling bins are collected on a fortnightly basis and the cardboard bin is usually full as is the bottle bin. Looking around the house and what goes into the general bin bag, there is a lot that could still be recycled should I have the inclination to do it. There is the plastic bags from shops and food waste that could be composted etc. Is what I do enough or should I be doing more to help our environment?

I recycle every day because we use things every day such as glass, cans, and paper.. Of course people in my family love to throw it all in one garbage can so I need to go threw it and put them in the right garbages. Most of the time though it's right on top of it so I don't have to dig threw it all.. I do know a lot of people that just throw things in one bag and take it off to the dumpster.. And or they just burn it in large cans so they don't have to worry about recycling things..
