I dont know whats going on.Mylot is not the same as it was.Seem like as the months go by members are leaving and discussions are not as good as they were back then.It takes me so long time to find a discussion I found interest in.I normally check on the friends list to see what they are talking about and normally i can find some there.I have close to 400 members on my friends list.I think only half of them may be active if that.I dont know if its the earnings that are driving people away or what.THe population is over 100,000 but i know half of the members are not active.I am not on mylot as much anymore because im doing other things but i have been coming on to check my friends list some of the new discussions and so called hot topics. You know its bad when 3 responses is considered todays hot top discussions.I've been a member 10 months and aint never seen it like this.Im not going to say im leaving mylot because i will be telling a big fat lie.For those who get bored with mylot just take a break and then come back.Thats all you gotta do:)

i kmow what you mean. i was on vacation for the last week, and had several responses to my discussions, nut no money was earned. i nelieve that you must respond to each response to get credit. that must be how it works. it would be so nice to see an amerturizaton of how we are paid. i think people join thinking they would like extra money, only to find that they make about 2 cents a day for alot of work. i don't really care about the money, although i havent made payout since february, and i made it twice in a row the first two months i was here. somethings have definitley changed, and i would just like to know how they determine who gets what!

i know, i have deleted some of my "friends" i think are no longer active. its ashame. i try and respond only to my friends lately, because i know they are more willing to respond to me. its really not about the money, but the sudden drop in pay is making me wonder if it will stop all together, and what is really going on.

I go between 2 places. MyLot is one of them. Check out my homepage and see if it is something you would like to join. I started out there and became active at MyLot. Enjoyed it very much, but it seems that people are spending less time here. I hope to get my friends to join me on the other site too, just in case they stop coming to MyLot.

You are right, Mylot is not he same as it once was. I too have a very hard time finding discussions worth responding to. So many good people have left Mylot because of this and the earnings being cut so much, it is very hard to make any money on this site anymore. Then people have peen having other problems with losing points and discussions being deleted.I myself do not spend much time here. I check in from time to time and see what is going on, but it just is not as interesting as it used to be.

It seems that a lot has gone on with MyLot that caused this slump. I doubt that the warmer weather has anything to do with it, but it might be a partial cause. When I was helping run cashglow's forums, it did get quieter during the summer months. Furthermore, even though the number of members have hit 100,000, it is not the case, because some of them are MyLotters who got banned, & came back under new names, & others just got banned or they cancelled, but they do not reduce the count. It seems that most of the blame is on MyLot management. With my friends, it's not because of less pay, because they would be back a lot more just to have fun with starting & responding to discussions. I'm not saying that for all of the MyLot members, this is the case. Discussions that were guideline-compliant have just mysteriously vanished with no reason given, after the hard work people take to type up their discussions, as well as typing up replies, only to have it get deleted just because someone felt like deleting it, or a frivilous report was sent in & someone did not bother to take the time to check to make sure that it was indeed a violation. At the same time, there have been discussions that are blatant violations to MyLot guidelines that have been reported that are still in existence. I had a friend who had a bunch of quizzes deleted. The guidelines do not have anything saying that people are not allowed to post quizzes as discussions. In cashglow, when a decision to delete a topic was made, a valid reaon was given. When new rules were added or changed, the orientation page (cashglow's equivalent to MyLot Guidelines) got updated immediately. Despite all those quizzes being deleted, MyLot guidelines do not state that quizzes are not allowed to be posted as discussions as of the time I am typing this response. All in all, if the other cashglow admins, moderators, & the owner saw what was going on here, they would say that those running MyLot lacked experience (My way of putting what they would REALLY say in a respectful & polite manner).

From my own experience, it looks like there might be either an admin or a moderator who is either lazy or does not know what he's doing. A report comes in, & he sees it, & maybe skims it over, & without actually taking the time to READ the discussion, probably just bangs on the delete button. A second possibility is a corrupt database. If it's a mysql/sql database, I'm sure that from all of the discussions, responses, & comments on the site that is one heck of a load to handle. Perhaps it could be a case of where deleting a discussion that does indeed violate the guidelines takes one or more good discussions right along with it, & nobody knows it until someone complains about their guideline-compliant discussion being deleted. If we hear anyone complaining about their earnings being a very large negative number (or it happens to one of us) that has us pulling our hair out wondering, "Is that someone's phone number? Or do I actually owe MyLot that much?" - it is most likely a corrupt database. I think it's a rogue moderator that's causing all of the grief. From my own experience, I was the admin who banned one of those on cashglow, & the owner himself who deleted that member & earnings completely out of the database.

Yea i have seen alot of members saying their discussions were deleted for no apparent reason.I've seen a member discussion deleted because someone thought it was offensive and reported it.The bad thing about it was the discussion wasn't offensive at all.I wonder what they consider offensive?

The lower payscale has driven many of it's most loyal members away. I've spent hours here posting and replying to discussion and only have $2.50 to show for my efforts. The sad part is that they refuse to address the decrease in earnings. The increased membership doesn't have anything to do with it since hardly anyone is active anymore. I will continue to pop in and out every so often, but I'm not going to spend hours here to make only a few cents. It really looks as if the end is near for myLot. Lloyd

I do agree with you. I know that i have tried taking a few times off, and each time when i come back it is not getting any better. I know that i have here very good friends, that when they start a discussion it is usually a quality discussion and the topic is an interesting one, but they also grew tired of starting posts here, so it is a bit problematic. I think that there is alway a risk when you start getting big, and i do think that thi website has fallen from a good discussion group, to a big refferal website. And i am sorry about it, i do think that there should be a different priority here.

I hope I was here ten months ago. It was different beacuse maybe ten months ago there lots of things to talk about and the excitement is still very alive and the fire is burning because theres a possibility of having good discussons for a start. Today mylot has grown big with a lot of inactive memebers, I hope mylot could delete those members who have not logged in for more than three months so that we could clean and just allow the active users to be counted here. Those members who have no posts should also be deleted, if they joined three months ago and still have no posts they should be deleted. he number is high but there are only a few good and active memebers here and I hope mylot coulddo the cleansing. Have a nice day.

I think my members on Mylot have noticed this. I registed on Mylot nearly half the year, and only been active for 1 month, then I could'nt find any fun in staying here. So I left for 4 months, without coming here once during these 4 months. Several days ago, I remebered Mylot and came here to see if there were any changes. Unforunately, I found no topics interesting to me, so I left again disappointedly. After that, I thought a lot. I thought maybe it's because I'm a Chinese, the way of my thinking is quite different from westerners, and we cannot communicate. Then I thougt I was wrong. People from different countries can communicate and exchange ideas. By thinking this, I felt a little relieved. Today, I come here again and find some good topics that I want to respond.

Hi, i am comparatively new as compared to you, so was looking forward in asking you as to why people keep saying that mylot isnt what it used to be and that they dont pay much. I still havent been able to understand their payment poilicies nor how they grade or mark the comments and discussions, nothing seem to be clear. Could you let me know, as you have been here for a long time. Does this site really pay? And are there some sites paying better than this. Thanks.

Oh mylot definitely does pay.I have been paid every since i've joined.I do not know how they decide the pay but it sure has decreased.THere are many other sites that pay.If you go to profiles some members have them listed there. It has changed because of so many rules and people abusing the rating system, many people have left because of earnings decreasing, discussions getting deleted and so forth.

Thanks for replying. I was wondering as to why dont senior memebers like you write and suggest to the mylot authorites as to what measures they can take to renew or make mylot better, or like what it was earlier, so that people join and stay back instead, and also suggest to make the rating and earning system more clear. I say this as you have been here longer than others, and have more of an idea of what the site was when it had started.

I would add to your own excellent observations that MyLot as well as other social sites are very much subject to Human rhythms and cycles of activity/non- activity, distractions and other factors... Even weather conditions can play a part in what is thought of as a mainly computer activity... if it's too darn hot, as it is in my case, or too darn cold as it is in my Aussie friends case(s) it can really affect the way we think and feel about our online social activties... Yes folks, the computer has brought us all together much as cities have done so, but it's Nature that really is in charge... She can definitely affect the "Weather" and feel of a "Virtual" community as well as She can affect the Weather outside our front doors... So don't be alarmed by changes in activity... it might seem like it's a "computer" thing but in Reality... It's only Human! :) LOL!

I have only been here for seven months but I find that the pay rate has gone down. Whether it is because of the member lists, or whether they now consider that not only do yuu have to have more than three lines, but that they all have to be quality, I do not know. I am also not sure whether a whole lot of little posts will be equal to so many long posts. I find some of the questions asked rather stupid and not the ones that I could give a long response to. I do think the lower earnings drive people away. When you join myLot, you usually figure I will meet many people, etc. and I can make enough to pay for my isp or whatever and then you find you cannot, so you go elsewhere.

Your right disvachic, mylot is not the same as it was when I joined 7 months ago. It was very active and most of my friends on my list were here everday. I use to get tons of emails in my inbox and actually enjoyed answering most of them. I think there is a lot happening in their own lives and some don't have the time to post much nowadays. Maybe because it's the summertime here and lots are on vacation. I struggled over the last week to post something and even answer discussions. I am just not into it like I was at the beginning, and yes a lot has to do with the lack of $$ we are earning now. The discussions are not as interesting either and I am getting tired of answering the same questions from the newbies. There are also others on here that are just plain nasty and I get tired of seeing those discussions where they just shoot everyone down and cause havoc. On a brighter note, I have a few discussions I have to answer so i'll catch up with you later.Hope you're feeling better!

I have observed from people's postings and responses that people post because of the money and not the fun and when the money is not forth coming as expected, they back-off. Also, people only want to post and not respond to other peoples postings because as much responses as I have read, respondants say they are paid little or nothing when you respond than when you post where your earnings will depend on your creativity and number of responses you get.
