What did you name your child/children and why did you choose that name over all others?

A couple of weeks after we found out we were having a girl my fiance had a dream about her. He said that everyone in his dream was calling her Sena. I thought it was a really unique pretty name and loved the way he thought of it so we went with it.

I think that that is a beautiful name and a great story for her to tell about her name for the rest of her life.

The missus has a family tradition of naming the oldest girl after the g-g-grandmother with a variation on the spelling...Our oldest is Elizabeth. The second daughter was named Victoria (both queens)...The first boy was named after my Father and me (we all have different names): Thomas, the baby was named after relatives and Apostles: Johnathan..... The other interesting thing is their nicknames are all derived from their initials..... Other names that are still "on the table" Helen or Catherine: Both queens Luke or James Other boy names: Hadian or Theodius (Neither will get past the missus)

You're lucky to have a missus with such dicerning tastes. The name that you tag your child with, we must remember, the child is going to carry with them forever. So creativity, beauty, and propriety dictate that names are very important and powerful things and should not be a burden on a person. How many do you plan to have anyway?

My oldest daughter is named Amity. Amity is the French word for friendship. Everybody always tells her that she has a beautiful name, and she is a friendly person, so it fits her. My youngest is named Allison, in honor of a cousin-in-law that I really cared for.

Good solid names both. Though some may think of Amityville when they first here the name it has a distinctly exotic sound to it.

i named my son Keiron Jacob. there was no real reason for naming him that, infact the whole time i was pregnant i had only planned on having a girl, so i had chosen a girls name. he would have been Katarina rachael.

Hello there sharone74! Well I have three children two girls and one boy. My oldest being the only boy his name is Vincent Darrell, I have named him after his grand father and great grandfather. My second child Mariahlyn is named after my mother Maria and me Liyan, I didn’t want to name her Maria so then I just assumed that Mariahlyn would be a great compromise. My youngest daughter’s name is Naiomi Merced she was named Naiomi by her father after his best friend who passed away in the eight grade from a tragic car accident. Merced is the name of her grandmother, her father’s mother. It is customary in our culture to name our kids after the grand parents or any other immediate family for that matter. I really don’t mind though, I love that my kids get to keep their heritage alive through their names.

That is a beautiful way to honor those that you flow from! I also commend you on uniqueness for your girls names. What culture are you from?
