I was reading another news story on people pc and this guy had stopped to help a wrecked car on the side of the road... There was a wrecked corvette on the side of the road and a gentleman stopped to help him and the guy took his car!!! Turns out the guy that he stopped to help had been involved in an accident earlier in the evening that had injured two people and he had fled the scene. After fleeing the scene he had flipped his corvette and that is when the gentleman happened upon him. What would you do, you had stopped to help someone and they stole your car? I don't know what I would do after I called the police, probably hope and pray that they didn't wreck it and my insurance company could get it back in one piece. Then I would probably cry a lot. This happened in Islandia NY..

That is so sad. I have also heard about people who have stopped to help people with car troubles on the side of the road who were robbed. It's sad that we have to consider our safety and that of whoever is in the car with us at the time before we can even think of helping someone who appears to be in trouble. It's a case of the bad apples spoiling it for everyone else. Sometimes the world can seem quite unkind.

I agree, I won't even pick up an old man who needs a ride, unless my husband is in the car with me. used to be anyone needed help people would not think twice about it. Yeah now adays I will not stop unless I know them, or my husband is in the car with me.
