What do you do when you are depressed?

I normally go to my room, close the door, turn the lights off and sit there for hours without talking to anyone.. But now I feel so angry and depressed and I'm at work.. I can do nothing but pretend like everything is fine and that I'm happy and satisfied :s Any advices please??

When depressed, I'd usually just stay in one corner doing nothing. I get unproductive. But, when I start realizing this, I get up and find productive things to do like write on my journal or blog. I also find time to pray. I cry my heart out to GOD.

yeah..music is a good thing. hehe. Its the thing that helps me through my hard times...like, heartaches...coping up with change. etc/

Hi there.... When i am depressed there are times where I'd rather be alone but at a certain stage of depression, I feel I wanna talk 2 someone with whom I feel comfortable. At a point of time, you feel you'll go mad if you couldn't vent 2 somebody. It is important 2 have someone you can open urself to, someone who would not judge you, someone who is willing 2 listen 2 you, someone who would give you the chance 2 express urself and eventually someone who could relieve you at least with words. Your royal highness, believe me it isn't easy 2 find that person. Sometimes we wish it is the person we fall in love with. If your lover or ur spouse is the person with whom, you could share these moments, it would be awesome but real life isn't like that always. It is good 2 find that someone, even if it is not the person you're in love with. At a stage, u may wanna feel alone but believe me sooner or later you need that magic someone, sometimes, it is a person you never expected. That's the answer to your question, of course I ain't gonna mention here seeing a shrink or depression pills coz it is not withing the scope of this discussion. Hi dear.. I don't think I need a shrink, actually it's not that bad.. For me the friend I normally share all my life details with is 2000 KLM away, and to be honest I couldn't find anyone who understands me the way she does.. She can tell what's wrong with me even without me speaking, and she knows when to leave me alone... I think the main reason why I'm depressed is because I feel lonely although I'm not alone.. I really miss her... Thanks for your support and response :)

I go out, and go to the mall even if i do not buy anything. But it helps beter if i just cry and pour out myself to God, then pray...

Maybe you should try doing other things. Depression is a phase in anyone's life and you're the only one who could 'get over it' or 'suffer the consequences forever'. When I'm depressed. I usually just lie down and sleep the whole day. Which I see is the opposite of yours. But I always try to think beyond the depression. I usually give myself at most 2days to stay depressed, then I leap up and find something to keep me positive. Ranging from eating chocolates (which studies show could lead to a sense of happiness thus helping conquer depression) to doing some exercise. I also try reading motivational books and stories. You can also try watching positive movies, or documentaries of hope like "In Pursuit of Happyness" or "The Secret" But if you've been depressed for a long time now either you could slap yourself to reality or you should consult a doctor. It pays to see symptoms early so that it would be easier to treat. Good luck! Life indeed is too short to keep on moping about the things that make you sad. There are lots of people who are SAD in this world.. so be UNIQUE, be Happy! =)

Whenever I feel depressed I too go to my room and cry. Lets face it. It isn't healthy being depressed. So, as much as possible I keep myself busy eventhough its hard at first. I hand out with people and look for a hobby that I enjoy. When I was depressed, I drew pictures from books. It kept me busy because I enjoyed what I was doing.

Drawing, writing and of course listening to music really help me... For think sometimes when I hangout with friends even close ones doesn't help me because of a bad habit of me when I'm bored or depressed I make people around me feel bad as well... Hopefully someday I'll get rid of it :s Thanks a lot for your response :)

I think I would face it head on and try to make the best of it all. try thinking about other things,the things that do bring you joy,the happy times in your life, or how you think you have it bad but there is always someone who has it worse. The worst thing you can do is sit and dwell on it.

I like to sit outside just me and the outdoors for a little while. Maybe cry a little and try to think about everything. I'm living with my parents and my son, while my husband is away he's in the military so I can't be alone for long, I have my son to care for. He allways makes me smile so he will cherr me up after some time.

forget you for awhile and find something you can do for one of your fellow workers that will make both of you happy. this sounds dumb but it works for you have forgotten your anger and your depression for awhile. this can help and can only cement your good relationships with your coworkers. You willnot be pretending because you will be focussing on your coworker and what she is doing.

I go to bed and embracing a teddy bear. One day I was very sad and slept with the teddy bear. My neighbor came to me and he/she tried to help me to be in a good condition. some times if I have a problem I am sharing it to someone who I know very well and I can rely on him. I suffered before 19 years orthopedic surgery and I was very sad and some people come to me to make me cheerful and glad. I know some sufferings can get a person into a situation of depression. They close themselves for the others and stopping sharing a word with others.

Hi poppy76bg.. I hope you are feeling much better now.. I do actually thanks to God my friends are here for me -I miss the old ones though- but the ones I have now are very nice to me they try to do whatever they can to cheer me up... Thanks for your participation dear :)
