Minorities For OBAMA....WHY ?

United States

Obama, Obama, Obama, Since Obama has thrown his hat in the presidential ring, most if not every Black, Latino or basicaly any person of color that I have spoken to wants Obama to win. Why? Is it because of his exstensive experience in international affairs? Is it because of his broad knowledge of the health care system in this country? Is it because his economic plan for this country is so good that we are all gonna reap the benefits of a thriving economy after he's elected? Or is it because of his years of experience in public life? Fact of the matter is most of the people I've spoken to have no idea what Obama has planned for this country, or even what he wants to do for this country. The fact of the matter is that the majority of minorities in this country want Obama to win simply because he's Black. Why? Is it just because of hope and a dream that someone of color can actually be president? Is it a frame of mind that since a Black man is in office everything is going to be better for minorities as a whole? Does Obama have that frame of mind? Is Obama running for minorities or just to make life as a whole better for Black people in america? Would you vote for a canidate like that? More importantly, will White america vote for a canidate like that? Their is so much more to say about this topic, Please leave your comments. So we can dicuss this further.

I'm black and I would very much love it if Obama did not win. That man scares me, and I am afraid that a lot of minorities will vote for him because he is a minority. This is not a popularity contest ya know! It's politics. But seriously.... if we were to have a black man for president, I wouldn't want it to be Obama. From what you have written I can't tell if your just speaking about he chances of having a good black man for president or if you are addressing an issue of "why" people are voting for this man...

I'm trying to figure out WHY everyone is for Obama and like you said minorities just want to vote for a minority without knowing what they stand for. Maybe if he gets a few more years under his belt and comes back arourn 8 or 12 years later we can see what he has to offer. I get a funny feeling about Obama as well I don't think he should be PRESIDENT.

Okay, I totally see where your coming from. My fear is that people will just go on and vote for him because he's a minority without actually going deep into analyzing their decision. All of the things that seem appealing to them (like his character, he definitely has a very 'friendly' appealing character) will be seen at an extreme level while his faults (certain things that he is for or against that an individual American citizen would not agree with) will be ignored. I don't want his minority status to blind people from being able to see should he be the President of the United States ya know? It is almost the same situation but not so much because we are all used to seeing her face in politics. If she were some other woman that we were not too familiar with, like Obama, then I'd also question her because woman might vote for her because she's a woman! Let's just hope that the best candidate will win in 2008.

I would never vote for Barak Obama. I do not have anything against him personally because I do not know him personally. However, he is inexperienced, and he is a Muslim who is trying to cover-up that fact (commonly called dishonesty). I do not think we need someone like that leading this country. I do not think his skin color is an issue. If it is, it should not be. Two elections ago a Black man ran in the Republican primaries, and I was very much hoping he would at least win the primaries. He dropped out of the race right before the primaries because he felt it would hurt the other candidates. He was a very articulate man, and I have never heard anyone explain the U.S. Constitution and its application the way he did. He got 1 million votes right before the primary, but that was not enough to even get him close to some of the other candidates. What a shame. I thought he would make a very good president. So, I do not think skin color has anything to do with it. This is what I think is driving the Obama crowd. I think perhaps his good looks, realative youth, and being able to give speeches that make people think he knows what he is talking about (when perhaps he may not)--those three things I believe are what people think Obama has going for him. The folks in Hollywood are heavily contributing to his campaign, and they are all about looks and blab. He is what is called "a talking head." Actors love that kind of person (perhaps he reminds them of themselves). What a crying shame if this man wins our presidential election!

I agree with what you said. Hollywood is backing Obama, just like they are backing Hillary but Mrs. Clinton has alot more on the ball then Obama. He does not have enough time in public service and I do think it would be a disater if he is elected. He would be the demorcratic version of George Bush a Figure head.
